Goes on sale early next year

Ford has introduced the Transit Custom ECOnetic, ahead of its launch early next year.

Designed to appeal to fuel conscious business owners, the Custom ECOnetic is powered by a 2.2-liter Duratorq diesel engine that produces 100 HP (74 kW). Thanks to optimized gearing, start/stop technology and low rolling resistance tires, the van can deliver a best-in-class fuel consumption rating of 6.0 L/100km (47.1 mpg UK / 39.2 mpg US) which is similar to passengers vehicles like the Ford S-MAX.

Besides the aforementioned equipment, the van features an Acceleration Control system which limits how fast the model can accelerate. It promises to reduce fuel consumption by 4 to 15 percent as well as cut wear-and-tear on brakes, tires and other components.

According to Barb Samardzich, vice president of Product Development at Ford Europe, “[The] Transit Custom already delivers great fuel economy and the new ECOnetic model pushes the bar higher, into the realm of the family cars." She added, "The Transit Custom ECOnetic is packed with advanced fuel-saving technologies that help businesses keep running costs to a minimum and reduce their carbon footprint.”
