Rosberg not planning more Hamilton talks

Nico Rosberg (GER) and team mate Lewis Hamilton (GBR) in the FIA Press Conference, 12.04.2015, Chinese Grand Prix, Shanghai / XPB Nico Rosberg says he has no intention of speaking again about the Shanghai incident with Lewis Hamilton.



The German, having accused his Mercedes teammate of compromising his race in China, said "criticism" was exchanged in the post-race briefings in China.



"I admit," he told the major German daily Bild, "when I sat next to him in the press conference, I was pissed (off).



"In the morning we had talked about that exact scenario," added Rosberg, referring to his complaint that the leading Hamilton was not giving him enough space from the charging third-placed runner, Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel.



The spat rekindled memories of their tumultuous relationship of 2014, and Rosberg admitted that the pair is once again "in a difficult situation".



"Between us, sometimes it's better and sometimes it's less good. But I see no reason to talk to him about it again."



Hamilton had kept the argument fizzing this week by suggesting he is mentally stronger than Rosberg, and insisting he would never settle for second place.



Rosberg has now hit back, saying the driving behaviour of Hamilton in China this weekend will be "irrelevant".



"We start from scratch again. Lewis can drive as he wants - it's up to him. It is completely irrelevant to me," he added.



Mika Hakkinen, the retired double world champion, said this week that he sees nothing unusual in the psychological battle playing out at Mercedes.



"These mind games are part of the show and always have been," the Finn told Germany's Die Welt newspaper.



But Hakkinen also backed Hamilton's driving in Shanghai, explaining that each driver concentrates only on trying to win the race for himself.



"For me it's simple," he said. "He was in the lead so the leader sets the pace."



As for whether Hamilton was deliberately driving slowly to ruin Rosberg's race, Hakkinen added: "I can only speak from my experience as a two-time champion in saying that I never did anything like that intentionally.



"But when I was leading, I was not interested in the rest of the field except to do everything I needed to do to win. It may sound selfish, but it's the truth."

unveiled the refreshed Alhambra MPV.

Volkswagen revealed
the facelifted Sharan last month during the Geneva Motor Show and now it's Seat's
turn to update its family vehicle. The Spanish car received only minor visual
changes including new LED headlights, as well as a redesigned radiator grille
and new alloy wheels. Inside the cabin there are a new steering wheel, a
revised center console and new chrome trim.

The "completely
redeveloped" engine lineup starts with a 2.0-liter TDI unit with 115 PS (85
kW), which needs only 4.9 liters of fuel per 100 km at 130 grams of CO2
emissions per km. The diesel range also includes 2.0 TDI units with 150 PS (110
kW) and 184 PS (135 kW). On the petrol side there is a choice between two TSI powerplants
with 150 PS (110 kW) and 220 PS (162 kW).

All engines comply
with the Euro 6 emissions and can be mated to a DSG dual-clutch automatic
transmission, with the only exception being the the entry-level diesel. Seat
says "the turbocharged direct-injection units are up to 15 percent more fuel
efficient" than before.

The new Alhambra comes
with a new generation of the Easy Connect infotainment system. Available as a
standard is the multi-collision brake, while the Blind-Spot Sensor and the DCC
adaptive chassis control are offered at an extra cost.

Different dramas for Mercedes' driving duo

Nico Rosberg (GER) and Lewis Hamilton (GBR) / XPB Mercedes' race drivers were dealing with very different dramas in the quick-fire hop between China and Bahrain.



For championship leader Lewis Hamilton, it was the manner of his celebrations on the Shanghai podium that drew negative attention.



Anti-sexism campaigners objected to photos depicting the reigning world champion spraying champagne into the face of an uncomfortable-looking podium hostess.



But F1 legend Niki Lauda, who is Mercedes' team chairman, told Bild newspaper on Wednesday: "A completely senseless criticism!



"Whoever is on the podium gets sprayed - drivers, engineers and grid girls."



Nico Rosberg was fighting on a very different front, having furiously accused teammate Hamilton of driving too slowly in the lead on Sunday.



"When you think the guy in front is too slow, you have to pass him," another F1 legend and Austrian, Gerhard Berger, told Sport Bild on Wednesday.



Berger, the most famous teammate of the great Ayrton Senna, thinks Rosberg is struggling to deal with his failure to match Hamilton's form so far in 2015.



"Rosberg is acting as Sebastian Vettel did after his miserable start to last season," said Berger, "looking for answers as to why Hamilton is better and finding none."



He thinks Rosberg's post-Shanghai reaction was "counterproductive", and urged him to find another way to match Hamilton before "falling into an even bigger hole".

Independent artist Wild Speed has turned the Honda
Civic Coupe concept into a fully-fledged Type R model.

Honda took us by surprise at the beginning of the month when
they took the wraps off a Civic Coupe concept which previews the tenth
generation of the model due later this year in United States. They also said a
Type R version will be commercialized stateside but they didn't specify whether it will a five-door hatch like the one sold in Europe. We do know the regular all-new Civic will be available in sedan, coupe,
hatchback and Si flavors which will be followed by the range-topping Type R
model.

Wild Speed designed to turn the Civic Coupe concept into a
Type R model by applying a more aggressive body and installing a quad exhaust
system with the tips installed in the middle similar to those on the
Corvette Stingray. The white body is combined with some red accents on the
lower sections of the car and wheels matched with red badges and brake
calipers.

We remind you the Euro-spec
Civic Type R hatchback packs a 310 PS punch from a four-cylinder 2.0-liter
turbocharged gasoline engine mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. It rockets to
62 mph (100 km/h) in 5.7 seconds and will keep on accelerating until 167 mph
(270 km/h).

Volvo has announced plans to introduce the S60L T6 Twin Engine at the Shanghai Auto Show.

Set to go on sale in China on April 22nd, the model features a plug-in hybrid powertrain that consists of a 2.0-liter four-cylinder Drive-E engine, an electric motor and an 11.2 kWh lithium-ion battery pack.  This setup enables the model to produce a combined maximum output of 306 PS (225 kW) and 550 Nm (405 lb-ft) of torque.

Detailed performance specifications were not released, but Volvo says the model will have an electric only range of 53 km (32.9 miles). When the battery is depleted, it can be recharged in as little as 3.5 hours.

Citroen Berlingo, Peugeot Partner and Opel/Vauxhall Combo replacement slated for 2018

General Motors and PSA Peugeot Citro n have announced their jointly developed small light commercial vehicle will be launched in 2018.

Details are limited but the model will spawn the replacements for the Citro n Berlingo, Peugeot Partner and Opel/Vauxhall Combo.  They will ride on PSA's light commercial vehicle platform and be built at a PSA plant in Vigo, Spain.

The companies went on to say the vans will be "differentiated and consistent with their respective brand appearance."

As a refresher, this will be the third and final jointly-developed model from the ill-fated alliance between GM and PSA Peugeot Citro n.  The other projects include a B-segment multi-purpose vehicle that will be built at a GM plant in Zaragoza, Spain and a C-segment crossover that will be produced at a PSA plant in Sochaux, France.

NEVS exits reorganization, could pave the way for a takeover

The latest Saabpocalypse is coming to a close as the District Court of V nersborg has granted NEV's request to exit reorganization following the approval of the composition proposal that presented to creditors back in February.

The agreement calls for creditors to be paid in two installments, one within 60 days of the ruling and another within six months.  While some creditors won't be paid in full, Saab says that 469 of the 573 creditors will receive everything that is owed to them.

The company's next step remains unclear but NEVS President Mattias Bergman has previously said the composition agreement was necessary so the company can sign "commercially viable agreements with our OEM and financial partners."  The move also paves the way for the company to ink a deal with an Asian automaker that wants to incorporate Saab into their existing vehicle lineup.

Audi won't offer a Plus variant of the RS3 Sportback

According to a recent report, Audi will not offer a high-performance RS3 Plus.

In an interview with Top Gear, Quattro GmbH technical development boss Stefan Reil said "We are at the limit of the size of the turbocharger. We have durability limits and our warranties to consider." 

While the engine can technically develop more power - as shown by the 525 PS (386 kW) A3 clubsport quattro concept - Reil said it would require the use of a larger turbocharger and a "lot of engineering."  This seems to suggest we'll have to make due with a turbocharged 2.5-liter engine that develops 367 PS (270 kW) and 465 Nm (342 lb-ft) of torque.

After a five-year break from drifting, Tanner Foust will return to the sport that jumpstarted his career, making his Formula D homecoming behind the wheel of this 2015 Passat. With a competition debut this weekend at the Long Beach Grand Prix, the four-door grocery-getter is extensively modified and purpose-built for sideways combat, including a conversion to RWD and a 900-horsepower V-8 transplant.

The two-time drift champion says he's excited to be back in the smoke, especially with a car as insane as this particular VW: "One of the things I have always loved about drifting in the United States is how inventive you can get with the car builds. You can put a high-horsepower V-8 into a Volkswagen Passat to make something completely unique," Foust says in a press release. "You don't see that in another series in the word."

The Passat, which Foust says was a similar build to his previous Scion drifter, is the latest from Tanner Foust Racing, also responsible for the RAUH-Welt Begriff Volkswagen Beetle that debuted at SEMA last year.

"At the heart of it, I'm an enthusiast," Foust said. "Having the chance to dream up something incredible and then work with a team to modify and build and make it real is incredibly rewarding."

One-Off Ferrari F40 LM Barchetta Returns To The Track: Video

A strange Ferrari model was recently spotted on TT Circuit Assen, the Netherlands, where it did a couple of hot laps. Contrary to what some may think, this chopped-off Ferrari F40 is not the work of a madman, but came to be thanks to the idea of a Belgian-born billionaire and part-time racer named Jean Blaton. Since he often raced under the alias Jean Beurlys, the car is also known as the F40 LM Beurlys by some aficionados, but no matter what you call it, it's the only one of its kind.

Based on the insane Ferrari F40 LM, this yellow beast is probably the fastest F40 in history, mostly thanks to its lack of restrictor plates. It was built by Michelotto, who also worked on the LM, and Tony Gillet, the creator of the Gillet Vertigo. There are few parts that remain from the original car, as the F40 LM Barchetta/Beurlys uses a motorsport-derived, push-rod coilover suspension system that is not unlike most modern race cars. The chopping of the roof was not as simple as it sounds, since it involved creating other body molds for the rear and installing a tubular roll cage around what was left of the cabin.

As you can see, the exhaust system was also re-routed to each side of the body, a solution which is likely to give its own benefit to the 760 horsepower that the car's twin-turbocharged, 2.9-liter, V-8 engine develops. Despite its uniqueness, the F40 LM Barchetta is worth much less than an original F40, since a few years back it was appraised at anything between $190,000 and $245,000.

Lexus ES

The new Lexus ES, which should arrive in time for the 2016 model year, will debut at the 2015 Shanghai Auto Show on April 22. With the announcement of its debut, Lexus also released a teaser image that shows off heavily revised headlights and a few other small details.

The Lexus ES debuted in 1989 for the 1990 model year as the ES 250, which was little more than a badge-swapped Toyota Camry. Lexus quickly regrouped for the 1992 model year with the release of the ES 300, but it wasn't until the 2002 model year that Lexus began separating the ES from the Camry that it was based upon. The ES went through another change with the release of the ES 330 for the 2004 model year, and then Lexus released the ES 350 for the 2007 model year. For the 2013 model year, the ES 350 received a full overhaul, and now with its third birthday on the horizon, Lexus is set to release a refreshed version of the luxury sedan.

Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Officially Renamed To GT12

There's no denying how fast Aston Martin cars are, but the last week has shown just how fast the British automaker's legal team can be, too. In the span of less than a month, Aston Martin's lawyers have had to deal with a trademark infringement against Henrik Fisker and his Thunderbolt Concept as well as a naming issue that came up with Porsche regarding the 2016 Aston Martin Vantage GT3.

Aston Martin had created the car as a limited-edition, street-legal version of its GT3 class endurance racecar, but Porsche took issue with the name since it has used the "GT3" moniker for its track-tuned version of the 911. Reports soon popped up that Aston Martin was planning to change the name of this production car and the racecar to the Vantage GT12, which was made official in a new video for the "most potent and uncompromising Vantage to date."

While the name has changed, the car's availability sure hasn't. Aston Martin is still planning to sell 100 Vantage GT12 street cars, but none of them will be sold in the U.S. This track-ready Aston Martin was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show, and aside from its unique styling, the Vantage GT12 has increased the 6.0-liter V-12's output to 592 horsepower while dropping curb weight by 220 pounds. Even with the weight loss, this 3,450-pound Vantage GT12 still weighs about 300 pounds more than a 911 GT3, but it also has a 117-horsepower advantage.

An Indian startup
company named Mean Metal Motors has released computer renderings and video of
its first model - the M-Zero supercar.

Currently there are
two concepts for the vehicle that is said to be produced in "a Scandinavian
country". Described as "India's first supercar", the machine will be powered by
a hybrid powertrain with around 800 HP (588 kW) that uses a 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine and electric motors.

The car features a
mid-engine architecture that ensures it has "innate stability, leading to high
levels of performance and handling", as well as a low-weight carbon-fiber monocoque. According
to preliminary details, the M-Zero will accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62
mph) in less than 3.0 seconds and hit a maximum speed of 320 km/h (199 mph).

Carmen Jorda backs all-female F1 proposal

Carmen Jorda (ESP) / XPB Carmen Jorda has added another voice to the debate about the idea of an all-female F1 series.



Bernie Ecclestone's proposal was roundly blasted, with a reporter for the Associated Press even describing it as a step to "sexual apartheid".



Williams tester Susie Wolff said a grand prix category just for women is "definitely not the right way forward", while another female driver Alice Powell was less scathing but said she would prefer to compete against men.



And Michela Cerruti, who has raced in the new Formule E series, said the women's F1 series would be essentially "to attract attention" and "much less interesting than seeing women racing against men".



New Lotus development driver Carmen Jorda has a different view entirely.



"Nowadays you see women competing in their own championships in most sports: football, tennis, skiing, you name it," she told F1's official website.



"In none of these championships are men and women competing against each other. So the question is: why not have a F1 world championship for women?"



Jorda also told AP that women will never beat men in F1 "because of the physical issue".



"I don't want to fight for 10th or 15th. What I want to do is to win," she added.



The question now is whether Ecclestone's proposal will go any further than mere debate.



The president of the FIA's 'women in motor sport' commission is Michele Mouton, a French driver who finished the world rally championship second in 1982.



She told AP she was initially "annoyed and very disappointed" with Ecclestone's proposal, but later insisted the FIA would not dismiss it "without proper debate and research".



"But from my own experience as a competitor, I truly believe women want to compete on an equal level with their male counterparts," Mouton said.

Citroen drops a couple of more teasers for Aircross concept, debuts tomorrow

To be just as quirky as the Cactus

Citro n has published two additional teaser images
with the Aircross
concept scheduled to be unveiled tomorrow.

This latest concept from Citro n seems to have a lot in common in terms of design with the C4 Cactus as the Aircross adopts similar slim LED daytime running
lights positioned above the uniquely shaped headlights. Unlike the Cactus which
has square taillights, the concept features slimmer horizontal clusters along
with a wraparound rear window while from a leaked
image we found out the rear door handles are probably hidden in the C-pillar.

The funky body is enhanced by lots of plastic body cladding,
quirky door mirrors, attractive alloy wheels shod in Continental tires and
possibly a vented hood with aluminum slats. Also expect a generous panoramic
roof, roof bars and several cameras monitoring the concept's surroundings.

Citro n has announced the Aircross concept will be
unveiled tomorrow and most likely it will be shown to the public later this
month at Auto Shanghai 2015 in China. Chances are the concept serves as a preview for the next generation C4 Aircross which will likely ride on the EMP2 platform.

Audi announces RS3 and Q8 will be sold in United States

RS3 likely to be sedan

Following last month's rumor,
Audi of America has confirmed the RS3 will make it stateside along with the Q8.

In an interview with Automotive News, Audi of America CEO
Scott Keogh said the RS3
will likely be commercialized in United States as a sedan as opposed to Europe
where the model is available as a five-door hatchback. He describes the RS3
Sedan as being "a great positioning car, a great halo car" and he is
confident the model will hit U.S. dealerships.

Keogh also said the Q8
will be sold stateside and is likely scheduled to go on sale in 2017, following a
European launch probably in the second half of next year. The model is expected to be a "home run product for the U.S.,
if you look at its size and where it's going to be positioned" and must "absolutely" make it to United States.

As far as the Q1
is concerned, it's unlikely the entry-level Audi crossover will be sold in
America because Keogh estimates it won't have the necessary price and value
combination for US buyers.

Mercedes-Benz SLC spied on a rainy day

Will replace the SLK

A thinly camouflaged prototype of the Mercedes-Benz SLC has
been spied undergoing testing on a rainy day.

Mercedes-Benz's new nomenclature
has already affected a few models and there's one more on the way as the SLK
facelift will be sold with the SLC moniker to denote the roadster is similar in
size with the C-Class. The current generation R172 was introduced more than
four years ago at the Geneva Motor Show so naturally time has come for a nip
and tuck as part of the mid-life cycle refresh.

Don't hold your breath for significant changes as the camouflage
fitted onto this prototype indicates the revisions will be modest, with some
updates for the bumpers and fresh graphics for the headlights and taillights.

Chances are the range-topping SLK 55 AMG will be called
Mercedes-AMG SLC 63 and will come with a twin-turbo V8 4.0-liter engine borrowed
from the C 63 / C63 S where it churns 476 HP / 510 HP, respectively. There also might be an AMG Sport model positioned right
under the fully-fledged AMG version and should get a twin-turbo V6 3.0-liter
with 367 HP (270 kW) and 517 Nm (382 lb-ft) as seen in the C450
AMG Sport.

An official introduction will likely occur in September at
the Frankfurt Motor Show, but most likely Mercedes-Benz will decide to show us
the car sometime in August.

Mercedes-Benz GLS reportedly going on sale in December, deliveries start a month later

Should be unveiled in September at IAA

German media is reporting Mercedes-Benz will start taking
orders for the GLS
(GL facelift) in December this year.

Daimler's largest SUV is about to receive a mid-cycle
refresh which aside from some minor visual tweaks it will also bring a name
change as the GL will make the switch to the GLS moniker to better show it's
similar in size with the S-Class. The latest rumor indicates Mercedes-Benz will
open the order books in December and will kick off deliveries in January 2016.

Chances are the GLS will be officially unveiled in September
at the Frankfurt Motor Show where it will bring slightly revised bumpers,
different headlight & taillight graphics along with some minor tweaks
inside the cabin. Speaking of the interior, Mercedes-Benz has already hinted a Maybach
version is being considered and it will likely come with a stretched
wheelbase creating a more spacious interior which will also get some very
high-end features as seen in the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, including individual
rear seats.

We estimate the first official images of the Mercedes-Benz GLS will
likely hit the web towards the end of August.
