Ford Mondeo RS render / X-Tomi Design
Recent report says it will happen
The not-so-new
Ford Mondeo has received an RS digital makeover from Hungarian artist
X-Tomi Design.
Even though Ford introduced
the current generation Mondeo in Europe back in September 2012 at the Paris
Motor Show, it took them more than two years to finally put the car effectively
on sale on the old continent. Now, X-Tomi Design decided to transform the mid-size model into a hot hatchback
worthy of Ford's RS badge, following a speculative "ST" treatment applied several months ago.
According to a recent report, a Mondeo/Fusion RS is in the
works with a V6 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine developing more than 400 HP (394 kW).
Even if this is true, the car will likely be out towards the end of the current-gen's
lifespan as it seems the Blue Oval company's strategy is to launch the RS
version late in the car's life. They have done this with the Focus
RS (and previous-gen) and will likely do it again with the Fiesta
RS.
The Mondeo RS seen in these speculative renders has been
envisioned with a more aggressive body, fixed rear wing, dual oval exhaust pipes, a
lowered sports suspension and some chunky wheels teamed up with low-profile
tires and enlarged brakes.
