A Closer Look At The McLaren 570S With EVO: Video

From the sexy Nissan Maxima to the lightweight and powerful Porsche Boxster Spyder, the 2015 New York Auto hosted debuts for many outstanding vehicles. The event was of great importance for automakers the world over, but seemingly it's McLaren that made the most of it by opening a new chapter in its short history as a road-car manufacturer. This new chapter kicked off with the 570S Coupe, which marks many first for the British company. It's not just the brand's smallest sports car yet, but also the most affordable, bringing McLaren's race-bred technology to a wider audience. What's more, it might just be strongest competitor the Porsche 911 Turbo has had in years.

Crafted around the same carbon-fiber, MonoCell II chassis used in the P1 and 650S, the 570S Coupe borrows many of its styling features from its bigger and more powerful siblings, while also sporting unique cues of its own. Developed with a focus on day-to-day usability, it features a well-appointed interior. Power is provided by McLaren's award-winning, twin-turbo, 3.8-liter V-8 detuned to generate 562 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. But despite being the least-powerful road-going McLaren in history, its low curb weight enables it to deliver a class-leading power-to-weight ratio of 428 horses per ton.

We've already seen it in photos, but now it's time to have a closer look at McLaren's sports car on the New York Auto Show floor, courtesy of EVO.
