Skoda Fabia R5 teased ahead of November 29 reveal [video]

Debuts at Essen Motor Show

Skoda has released a teaser clip for their upcoming Fabia R5 set to be unveiled on November 29.

The Fabia S2000 has been phased out and now Skoda's motorsport division is concentrating on the R5 version which is based on the recently introduced third-gen Fabia supermini. Technical details about the rally car have not been provided at this point but the video shows a camouflaged version equipped with a beefier body with a roof scoop, raised suspension, rally-spec wheels and a central exhaust system.

Based on FIA's R5 regulations, the Fabia rally version will get a four-cylinder 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine and a four-wheel drive system. Another condition is to have a minimum weight of 1,230 kg (2,711 lbs) and chances are the Fabia R5 will make use of a sequential gearbox.

We will know for sure on November 29 when the rally car will be introduced at the Essen Motor Show, ahead of next year's racing debut in the WRC-2 series.
