2015 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport introduced with new tech and more power [video]

SDV6 engine gets extra 14 HP & 100Nm

Land Rover is introducing the 2015MY Range Rover and Range Rover Sport with a series of upgrades.

First up, the six-cylinder 3.0-liter TDV6 has lost the twin-turbo in favor of a ball-bearing single turbocharger but the output has remained the same at 258 HP (190 kW) and 600 Nm (442 lb-ft). Corroborated with a low-pressure exhaust gas recirculation (LPEGR), a two-stage oil pump and an updated fuel-injector nozzle, the engine is now 8.5 percent more fuel efficient in the Range Rover and 5.7 percent in the Range Rover Sport.

The six-cylinder 3.0-liter SDV6 in the Range Rover Sport continues with the parallel-sequential turbocharging but thanks to further calibrations it now develops an extra 14 HP (10 kW) and 100 Nm (74 lb-ft) for a total of 306 HP (225 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft). Moreover, the aforementioned LPEGR along with revised fuel-injector nozzles have brought a seven percent fuel economy improvement.

Fuel efficiency of the 3.0-liter V6 supercharged SCV6 engine in both models has increased by 1.9 percent while output has remained the same at 340 HP (250 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque.

Land Rover is also introducing a head-up display system offering data like speed, gear position & shift indicator, sat-nav instructions, cruise control info and traffic sign recognition. In addition, both cars can be equipped with an All-Terrain Progress Control (ATPC) system which allows the driver to select a desired speed and it will continuously monitor and adjust the vehicle settings in order to provide the best traction regardless of conditions.

Land Rover says ATPC (operable between 1 and 19 mph) also diminishes the driver’s workload by maintaining composure over difficult terrain, steep gradients as well as low-grip surfaces. It can be had in the TDV6, SCV6 and V8 Supercharged versions when specified with dual-range transmission and Terrain Response 2 system.
