2015 Volkswagen Passat
Arriving in 2-3 years
Volkswagen has announced CC and Alltrack versions of the all-new Passat are currently in the works.
The Passat B8 is currently available in sedan and wagon body styles but in the next few years these will be joined by a sleeker CC and a rugged Alltrack. The announcement was made by the company's chief designer Klaus Bischoff in a Volkswagen employee newsletter but an exact launch date was not specified.
According to Car & Driver, the current CC will remain in production for approximately two years so its successor will likely come in the second half of 2016 and will be commercialized in United States. The Alltrack won't make it stateside and will once again be a high-riding Passat Variant with plastic body cladding and an all-wheel drive system, perfect for those who are not too fond of crossovers & SUVs.
We remind you that Volkswagen has dropped a few hints about a range-topping Passat R as a successor for the previous generation's R36 variant. It will come with a 4MOTION all-wheel drive system and possibly with a six-cylinder engine although a final decision has not been taken yet.
