Nissan GT-R Midnight Opal Special Edition 2014

Nissan has unveiled a new special edition GT-R, called the 2014 Nissan GT-R Midnight Opal, which gets its name from the Midnight Opal color scheme applied to its exterior. The special edition will be limited to just 100 units for worldwide consumption in which half of the units will be available in U.S.

The Midnight Opal exterior paint is applied with each coat applied by hand. The highly reflective paint treatment changes appearance slightly from a deep purple to a deep blue depending on light conditions and viewing angle.

The Special Edition GT-R Midnight Opal also features a dry carbon fiber rear spoiler, RAYS forged aluminum wheels with a "hyper-titanium" coating and gold-plated serialized plaque of authenticity located in the engine compartment.

The interior features sculpted performance bucket seats and a cockpit-style instrument panel with a large center-mounted tachometer and multi-function display.

The Special Edition GT-R is powered by Nissan's advanced VR38DETT 3.8-liter twin turbo V6 engine rated at 545 hp and 463 lb-ft of torque. It uses the dynamic independent rear transaxle ATTESA E-TS all-wheel drive system.

The 2014 Nissan GT-R is also available in GT-R Premium, GT-R Black Edition and limited production 2-seat GT-R Track Edition. The Special Edition will cost $106,590, a $6,000 more than the GT-R Premium Editon and goes in sale in September.

Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG 2014

Mercedes-Benz has officially revealed the 2014 S63 AMG, the most powerful high-performance saloon in the luxury segment. It will have an public debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show in September. The new S63 AMG more powerful, lightweight and efficient than its predecessor.

The styling of AMG comes from more aggressive bumpers, 19" alloy wheels which are larger, beefier side sills and a sports exhaust system.

The new S63 AMG is lighter in weight by 100 kgs (220 lbs) compared to the predecessor model thanks to the AMG forged light-alloy wheels, a lightweight lithium-ion battery and a lighter composite brake system. The entire outer skin of the S-Class, including the roof and the front end of the body, is made of aluminum.

The 2014 Mercedes Benz S63 AMG is powered by the updated Euro 6-compliant AMG 5.5-litre V8 biturbo engine with an output of 430 kW (585 hp) and a torque of 900 Nm (664 lb-ft). The direct petrol injection engine has piezo injectors and an all-aluminum crankcase with four valves per cylinder with camshaft adjustment. It is built with air-to-water intercooler and has an ECO start/stop function.

The new S63 AMG will accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (60 mph) in just 4.0 to 4.4 seconds, depending on model variant, and the top speed is electronically-limited to 250 km/h (155 mph).

A combination of an efficient drive system and reduced weight results in an NEDC combined fuel consumption of 10.1 to 10.3 litres per 100 kilometres (237 to 242 g/km CO2).

The market launch will commences in September 2013 and prices for the S63 AMG (short wheelbase) will be 149,880.50 and S63 AMG 4MATIC (long wheelbase) will be 152,617.50.

Fiat 500L Trekking 2014

Fiat is expanding the Fiat 500 family with the introduction of the 500L Trekking and 500L MPW (Multi-Purpose Wagon). The 500L Trekking is a distinctively rugged crossover look with a raised ride height and M+S (Mud&Snow) all-season tyres, plus the clever Traction+ system.

The 500L Trekking gives a sportier, more dynamic twist to the 500L concept without compromising its class-leading interior space and functionality. It has some features like protective underbody shields, diamond finished alloy wheels, specially designed bumpers, satin-finish inserts on the bumpers, side mouldings and door handles.

On the interior the 500L has class-leading levels of safety equipment and enjoys a high level of standard specification. Standard equipment includes air conditioning, 5" touchscreen radio with Bluetooth, and Cruise Control. It has distinctive color combinations on the inside like the Magnesio Grey fabric with brown leather inserts and a painted dash or the Black fabric with white inserts and a choice between black or white painted dashboard.

The entry level engine for the Fiat 500L Trekking is the 1.4 16v FIRE engine delivering 95hp at 6000rpm and torque of 127Nm at 4500rpm. This in-line four-cylinder has double overhead camshafts and will do 0-62mph in 13.2 seconds, going on to a top speed of 103mph.

Other engines include the 0.9-litre turbo with Start&Stop developing 105hp at 5500rpm and a torque of 145Nm at just 2000rpm. It will do 0-62mph in 12.6 seconds and has a top speed of 107mph. The 1.3 MultiJet II version of the Fiat 500L Trekking develops its 85hp at 3500rpm, with maximum torque of 200Nm at just 1500rpm. Its maximum speed is 99mph with a 0-62mph time of 15.3 seconds. The 1.6 MultiJet engine produces 105hp at 3750rpm and a 320Nm of torque at 1750rpm. It will do 0-62mph in just 12 seconds with a top speed of 109mph.

To celebrate the Goodwood Festival of Speed's 20th anniversary, Bugatti has arrived in style by showcasing a true icon, the 1932 Bugatti Type 41 Royale at the "Cartier, Style et Luxe" exhibition. This is one of the only 6 Royale that were ever built.

This majestic car has the chassis number 41111, body designed by Ettore Bugatti's son Jean and this was the first Royale to be delivered to a customer. A clothing manufacturer named Armand Esders bought the Royale in 1932 for about 700,000 Francs, a significant sum in those days.

Bugatti founder Ettore Bugatti dreamt of building the most powerful and luxurious series-production vehicle the world had ever seen. The car featured an in-line 8 cylinder engine with an overhead camshaft, producing approximately 300 PS.

With a 190-litre tank and measuring almost 6.5m long, 4.3m across the wheelbase and weighing around 3 tonnes, the Royale was a majestic car for its time in terms of size, comfort, quality and elegance. And there is the famous radiator cap, featuring an elephant sculpture created by Ettore's brother, Rembrandt Bugatti. This elephant has since become a symbol for the timelessness of the Royale and has become synonymous with the Bugatti brand.

Details emerge about Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe, coming to Geneva with S65 AMG version - report

S65 AMG to be RWD only

New details have been disclosed about the production-ready Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe which has already been confirmed for a 2014 launch.

Presented as a concept last September at IAA in Frankfurt, the S-Class Coupe will reportedly come in production guise at this year's Geneva Motor Show where it will be exhibited also in the S65 AMG guise. The CL-Class replacement will be about 5.05 meters long, 1.96 meters wide and 1.44 meters tall. It will look a lot like the concept, with the exception of the headlights and exterior mirrors which will be modified for the production model.

Power will come from the same engines found inside the regular S-Class mated to a 7G TRONIC PLUS transmission and joined later on by the newly developed 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic gearbox. There will also be an S63 AMG version with 4MATIC all-wheel drive system while the S65 AMG will be RWD only. The same report indicates the availability of S500 and S500 4MATIC versions and the absence of diesel engines.

Porsche 919 Hybrid has a turbo V4 engine - report

Porsche's all-new LMP1 contender will allegedly feature a turbocharged V4 2.0-liter direct-injection gasoline engine.

The 919 Hybrid marks Porsche's comeback in the world of LMP1 racing and according to Autocar it has a V4 configuration for the already confirmed 2.0-liter, four-cylinder direct-injection gasoline engine. It is believed Porsche opted for this configuration for packaging reasons to enable the best possible position for installing the hybrid drive system.

This gasoline engine works with two energy recuperation systems called KERS and ERS which will store the energy in a battery pack until the driver presses a button to deploy it to the front wheels through an electric motor. It should be noted the V4 engine will power the rear wheels while the battery is of the lithium-ion type and has been provided by A123 Systems from United States.

Behind the wheel of the Porsche 919 Hybrid will be Mark Webber, Neel Jani, Timo Bernhard, Romain Dumas, Marc Lieb and Brendon Hartley. The vehicle will receive its racing debut on April 20 when the 2014 WEC starts at Silverstone Six Hours. Without any doubt, the highlight of the season will be the 24 Hours of Le Mans (14-15 June).

Lexus IS F could still be in the works - report

According to reports out of Japan, Lexus could offer a new IS F.

Details are limited but the model would be heavily influenced by the RC F Coupe which recently debuted at the North American International Auto Show. This means the sedan could come equipped with an aggressive body kit, a sport-tuned suspension and a Torque Vectoring Differential with three different modes.

Power would likely be provided by a 5.0-liter V8 engine that develops more than 450 bhp (335 kW) and 383 lb-ft (518 Nm) of torque. In the RC F, it enables the coupe to accelerate from 0-60 mph in less than 4.6 seconds and hit an estimated top speed of 168 mph (270 km/h).

Martini returning to F1 with Williams - report

Martini, the Italian alcoholic drink label, is returning to formula one.

That is the claim of Germany's Auto Motor und Sport, reporting that the former Ferrari sponsor will return with its well-known logo on the Williams livery this year.

Correspondent Tobias Gruner said Martini has pledged a "two digit million sum" for its F1 return, which will be warmly welcomed by Williams following the departure of Pastor Maldonado and his PDVSA millions.

Martini was last in F1 during Ferrari's Jean Todt era, but its involvement dates back much further, including when it sponsored Bernie Ecclestone's Brabham team in the 70s.

 

Kia Sorento "Justice League" by West Coast Customs

The San Diego Comic-Con opened up today and what better way to celebrate it than with a comic book-inspired ride? Well, Kia was happy to deliver the goods by way of a Justice League-inspired 2013 Sorento that took a whopping 10 months to complete.

For those that don't know, the Justice League first appeared in The Brave and Beautiful issue No. 28, which was put on shelves in 1960. The original seven members of the famed comic book team were Batman, Superman, Aquaman, Flash, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman and Martian Manhunter, but many characters came and went through the years. This Sorento features all of the original characters with the exception of the lesser-known Martian Manhunter - in his place is more mainstream Cyborg - painted on each side of the vehicle by West Coast Customs. Each of the characters on this Sorento also had their own individual customized Kia and you can see each one by clicking on each name above.

Up front, the hood features a "Justice League" decal and nothing else, giving the crossover a clean, but still custom, look from the front end. The Kia also received blacked-out upper and lower grilles.

On the inside, the customization continues. West Coast Customs reupholstered all three rows of seats with one character's colors and logo on each seat. Up front, the driver's seat features the Superman logo and red piping, and the passenger's seat features a batman logo on the headrest and gold piping. The three center-row seats features Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and Flash logos with their respective colored piping. Finally, the third row of seats feature Aquaman and Cyborg logos with piping to match.

Also customized are the door panels, which feature comic strips on the upper inserts and color-coordinated piping, and the center console with its comic-strip covering.

What's more, is that you can buy this custom rig on Ebay and bidding runs from today through July 27th here. The profits from the auction will go to help the We Can Be Heros campaign, which helps feed starving families in the Horn of Africa. So, not only can you own an awesome ride, but you also help a great cause, it's a win-win situation.

The customization is based on a Sorento EX with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine that puts down 276 horsepower and 248 pound-feet of torque.

There are always two sides to any rivalry and it was no different in the case of Formula One drivers Niki Lauda and James Hunt.

The two are now the subject of Ron Howard's latest cinematic masterpiece "Rush," which is set to hit theaters on September 20th. History will forever attach the names Niki Lauda and James Hunt to "world champions" but equally fitting when talking about these two drivers is the fact that they had one of the sport's fiercest rivalries.

Howard touches on that in "Rush" and this newest trailer gives us a good look at one of the protagonists in the movie: James Hunt. Played by Chris Hemsworth, Hunt is portrayed as the free-wheeling playboy who epitomized living in the fast line, the perfect foil to the ultra competitive Lauda, who was driven to be the best on track.

This is the farthest thing from "Driven," folks. "Rush" is shaping up to be a must-watch movie for fans of both drivers and fans of Formula One in general.

Kia unveiled the all-new Cadenza sedan - the model that marks Kia's entering into the premium-sedan segment - at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show. The new Cadenza will join Kia's current lineup of sedan models that includes: Forte, Optima and Rio, and will go on sale in the second quarter of this year.

The model is offered only in one equipment trim level and will feature a design language inspired by Kia's European models. As a result, the new Cadenza will be distinguished by a "Tiger Nose" front fascia, quad headlamps and taillights with LED technology and a new exhaust system with twin oval tail pipes. Interior features will include equipment like leather seats, dual-zone automatic climate control and a 12-speaker Infinity audio system. For those customers wishing to further customize the look of their car, Kia is also offering two optional packages: Premium package and Technology package.

The 2014 Cadenza will be equipped with only one engine: 3.3-liter GDI V6 engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

The Benelli Motard 250 was especially created to be the perfect motorcycle for less experienced riders. When designing the bike, Benelli's engineers have spent a lot of time to make it easy to maneuver, light and also strong enough to offer a fun riding experience.

At its heart lies a single-cylinder, 4 stroke, liquid cooled, 4 valves, double overhead camshaft, fuel injected engine that puts out a maximum output of 18 kw (25 cv) at 9000 rpm and 21 Nm (2,14 kgm) of torque at 7000 rpm. All this power is kept in leash by a six speed gearbox with wet clutch.

The engine is wrapped by a stiff frame made of resilient tubular steel which sits on a set of comfortable suspensions. Talking about suspensions they consist of a 50mm front fork with hydraulic adjustment and a rear single shock-absorber with progressive link.

Report: Next-Gen Mustang will Start as a Limited-Run 2014 1/2 Model

If you dig deep into the Mustang's history and pull up the first generation, you will find that it was actually a mid-model-year addition to Ford's lineup, which makes it a 1964 1/2 model year. Back then, half-model-year vehicles were not a too rare, like they are today, but it looks as if we are set to see one really soon in the next-gen Mustang.

According to an insider that spoke to the folks over at Mustangs Daily, there will be a limited run of next-generation Mustang's bearing the 2014 1/2 model year. The insider claims that this is a way for Ford to celebrate the true 50th anniversary of the famed pony car.

According to the report, only 1,000 examples if the 2014 1/2 Mustangs will see production and they will each feature a special VIN and build number to separate them from the 2015 models. With only 1,000 units hitting showrooms at what we assume will be a rather inflated price, this special run of next-gen Mustangs will be an instant collector's item.

The report also indicates that, despite an anticipated price hike, the 2014 1/2 model will not feature any power upgrades.

If this report proves to be true, then we are likely getting rather close to seeing Ford drop the camo from the Mustang in time to squeeze in for 2014. Stay tuned for more details!

Chevrolet Captiva Sport

In the 2014 Chevrolet Captiva Sport's senior yearbook, the standard headshot would have been replaced by a blank "No Photo Available." This commercial vehicle sits in the fleet-only section of Chevy's U.S. lineup. These models major on sale price and fuel mileage - but typically include few tech or luxury features and zero trendy styling.

The opposite of trendy, the Captiva Sport is eerily familiar on all American roads. By george! It is the stillborn, second-gen Saturn Vue in a bowtie grille! Additional fender flares and chrome accents appear where there were once maroon Saturn badges.

Reviving this car is a special treatment within General Motors, and only replicated with the (also fleet-only) Chevy Caprice PPV that started life as the 2008 Pontiac G8 GT. What this distinction means for the Captiva Sport is that the vehicles have to be delivered directly to a commercial operator, thereby skipping the local retailer in favor of bulk orders.

The Captiva Sport's big news for 2014 is an updated infotainment unit that now offers Chevrolet MyLink touchscreen audio and mobile connectivity.

The Captiva Sport is therefore a work car for people who might otherwise be in a Malibu Classic (yes, it existed..) or a Cruze - neither of which have AWD winter traction.

The larger Chevrolet Equinox is also on the fleet books for virtually identical list prices. How do they compare?

Video: Over 5,000 Horsepower Worth of Porsche 918 Spyders Invade Monaco

Having the chance to see a Porsche 918 Spyder on the road is pretty rare, but YouTube user Marchettino had the opportunity to catch not one, but six of these beasts on the streets of Monaco (AKA the supercar capital). While cruising around Monaco, he stumbled upon a convoy of three 918 Spyder, then when they stopped at the gas station, three more were right behind them. You can only imagine what the six V-8 engines pounding out a combined 5,250 horsepower must have sounded like.

As a reminder, the 918 Spyder combines a 4.6-liter V-8 engine with two electric motors for a total output of 875 horsepower. The supercar can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds and up to a top speed of 211 mph.

The model is limited to 918 units and will carry a price tag ranging from 781,155 (about $1million) to 853,155 ($1.1 million) when you also opt for the Weissach package.

With its classic style and the old school stance, the 2013 Triumph Scrambler looks like a blast from the past. Compact, comfortable and agile, the 2013 Beta Ark is a friendly scooter designed for city riding.

As far as style is concerned, the 2013 Beta Ark comes with funky color schemes, a pretty sleek fairing and two round headlights. You also get high mudguards, off-road sides, brawny muffler and a hardy frame. The motorcycle sits on a pair of tiny 13 inch wheels wrapped in 120/70 - 13 front and 130/60 - 13 rear tyres.

Acura considering a new entry-level crossover - report

Could be the production version of the SUV-X concept

According to a recent report, Acura is considering an entry-level crossover which could be based on the Honda Fit.

Details are limited but speculation suggests the company could offer the production version of the SUV-X concept in North America. The model was designed primarily for China but Honda spokeswoman Yuka Abe told Automotive News the company is considering additional markets for the vehicle.

Honda Vezel powertrain chief engineer Naohisa Morishita went one step further and told the publication "There is a market for it worldwide, not just in China." He went on to say "Personally, I think Acura needs it."

It remains unclear when the model could arrive but the production version of the SUV-X concept is slated to go on sale in China in 2016.

Promises to be a more practical and family friendly version of the Cooper hatchback

Our spies have managed to snap new pictures of the five-door MINI Cooper.

Caught undergoing cold weather testing in Scandinavia, the model is a more practical and family friendly version of the Cooper hatchback. As a result, it has been equipped with shorter front doors and new rear doors which should improve access to the rear passenger seats. The model also appears to have a flatter roof and an extended wheelbase which should result in a more accommodating cabin.

Engine options will likely carryover from the standard model to expect choices to include:

• A 1.5-liter three-cylinder petrol with 134 bhp (100 kW) and 170 lb-ft (230 Nm) of torque


• A 1.5-liter three-cylinder diesel with 114 bhp (85 kW) and 199 lb-ft (269 Nm) of torque


• A 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol with 189 bhp (141 kW) and 221 lb-ft (300 Nm) of torque

Ferrari F70 Spy Photo + Video

Hot off the Italian Maranello roads and and thanks to CarPassion.it is the most recent spy video and rendered images of the Enzo Ferrari successor the Ferrari F70. Ferrari's new flagship supercar will be powered by a 7.3L V12 (borrowed from the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta) most likely tuned to deliver a blistering 800+ horsepower. It will also be aided by another 100+ hp thanks to KERS (thanks Dr. Feynman) adapted from current Formula 1 racing technologies.

Supercar Heaven Exists in Monterey

If heaven does exist I am confident that this will be how it looks for many of us auto enthousiasts. Beautiful sunny ocean backdrops with white on white supercar Angels everywhere! While in Monterey California for the 2012 Monterey Car Week the talented and very connected Jason Thorgalsen orchestrated this photo shoot of 8 supercars assembled on 17 mile drive with Pebble Beach in the background. Cars include Koenigsegg Agera R, Mansory RENNtech Mercedes SLR McLaren, Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4, Lamborghini, Murcielago LP670-4 SV, McLaren MP4-12C, Ferrari 458 Italia, Maserati Granturismo MC Stradale, Mansory Rolls Royce Phantom Coupe and a Mansory Porsche Panamera Turbo.

SLR Club Tour Adriatica Photos

15 Mercedes McLaren SLR's (which included 2 Stirling Moss SLR) took part in a 6 day SLR Club Tour Adriatica along the Croatian coast of the Adriatic sea and covered 1000km (MAP). The tour tarted in the city of Zagreb and travelled through Istria, Rovinj, Zadar, Split, Hvar and finally ending up in Dubrovnik. The route was over 600km long and the pictures speak for themselves

2012 SEMA Show Sneak Peek Photos
