Goes on sale next month

Holden has released new details about the 2014 Trax.

Set to go on sale next month, the entry-level crossover promises to deliver "standout styling and outstanding fuel economy."

Speaking of styling, there isn't much to report as the model is essentially a Chevrolet Trax with a different grille. Despite the similarities, Holden says the crossover has been equipped with an Aussie-specific suspension and a revised power steering system.

The cabin also echoes its Chevrolet counterpart but comes nicely equipped with air conditioning, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a MyLink infotainment system with Bluetooth/USB/iPod connectivity. Moving up to the range-topping LTZ variant adds heated front seats, fog lights, a trip computer, a six-speed automatic transmission and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Power is provided exclusively by a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 140 HP (103 kW) and 175 Nm (129 lb-ft) of torque. It enables the model to average 7 L/100km (33.6 mpg US / 40.3 mpg UK) with a five-speed manual transmission and 7.6 L/100km (30.9 mpg US / 37.1 mpg UK) with the six-speed automatic.

The Holden Trax will be priced from $23,490 AUD which excludes delivery and government taxes.
