Michael Schumacher continues to fight for his life "hour by hour" after a high speed skiing crash.




The day after the German's helmeted head struck a rock whilst he was skiing with his son in the French alps, grave-faced doctors at a hospital in Grenoble delivered an update to massed ranks of mainstream reporters.




"For the moment we cannot say what Michael Schumacher's future is," one doctor admitted in French.




"We can say that his condition is life-threatening," he added.




The doctors revealed that an initial operation relieved the effects of brain bleeding, but "sadly" they also noticed "various bilateral lesions".




A doctor said the former Mercedes and Ferrari driver had obviously crashed at high speed, and that if he had not been wearing a helmet "he definitely would not have got to here".




They said they knew Schumacher was initially conscious after the fall, but did not respond normally, and he had fallen into coma by the time he arrived at hospital.




Due to the brain injuries, the seven time world champion's body temperature is now being kept artificially low, and he is under a general anaesthetic.




"He is in a critical state in terms of cerebral resuscitation," said a doctor. "We are working hour by hour."

Car & Driver is reporting Mercedes-Benz will launch the GLC-Class in 2016 as a competitor for the upcoming BMW X4.




Just when you thought the Germans were done with crossovers and SUVs, C&D says Mercedes-Benz has another one in the pipeline. The vehicle is set to receive the GLC moniker and will be a coupe-ish version of the upcoming second-gen GLK. It will follow the same philosophy behind BMW's forthcoming X4 which is essentially a coupe-ified X3.




Both the GLK and GLC will ride on the same architecture which underpins the recently revealed C-Class (W205). Power will come from an array of four- and six-cylinder engines and there could also be a hybrid derivative. These engines will be mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission sending output to both axles, but a RWD version is being considered as well.




The same report indicates the GLC will be positioned more upmarket compared to the GLK so as a consequence the price tag will be higher and could start above 40,000 USD. The vehicle will likely be unveiled in the first quarter of 2016 and will go on sale before the end of that year as a 2017MY in United States.

This is the Porsche Cayenne OTS Edition, a interpretation of the famous German SUV made by Onyx Concept, which offers it in two different levels of tuning: the "soft" one includes a new front bumper, a revised rear bumper with integrated diffuser, side skirts, rear spoiler, wheel arch extensions and a twin exhaust.



The "stage two package" put on offer by the Irish specialist is a bit more 'flashy', so to speak, and on the top of all that stuff from level one it provides for a new hood, mirror caps made of carbon fiber and a nice set of 22-inch alloy wheels. As for the interior, we have black leather upholstery for the seats, three-spoke sports steering wheel and quite a few carbon fiber inserts.



Talikng about the Cayenne, we would just like to remind you that a hybrid variant which will produce a combined output of 420 hp, thus proving to be even more powerful than the Cayenne S Hybrid it will basically derive from. The current Porsche Cayenne Hybrid consumes 8.2 liters per 100 kilometers emitting 193 g/km of CO2, with the electric powertrain that can cover just short-haul trips at the maximum speed of 60 km/h (37 mph).

For 2013, the GT500 was given some revised front sheet metal to help improve its aerodynamic handling. With a possible top speed of 202 mph, airflow and downforce becomes a very real issue and Ford says the changes have resulted in a 14-per-cent reduction in drag and a 66-percent increase in front-end down-force.



Looking at the front of the 2013 GT500, you may notice it has no grille. No, nobody backed into it - and it was not forgotten at the factory. It's not there due to the massive amount of cooling required for the 5.8-litre supercharged, aluminum block V8 that produces 650 horsepower and 600 foot-pounds of torque. This engine uses a Ford-patented Plasma Transferred Wire Arc (PTWA) cylinder liner coating - a special process that applies a 150-micron composite coating containing nanoparticles on the internal surfaces of the cylinder bores, replacing the heavier cast-iron liners typically used in aluminum engine blocks. The cooling system sports a larger fan and a three-row intercooler where the previous model used a double-row unit.

Previous rumors suggested that Acura could be finally unveiling the production version of the Acura NSX supercar at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show. However, it looks like the company decided to tease us a little bit more, as the Detroit Show only yielded another evolution of the NSX Concept. Acura did, however, confirm that this new concept could offer "a first-ever look at one possible direction for the next-generation NSX interior design."



Translated this means that the production version will look pretty much similar to all those concepts we have seen in the past few years and that when the production version finally drops onto the market, it will offer no surprises.



Just like with the previous concept versions, the new one is defined by clean, modern and simple surfacing, and the interior was founded on a "Human Support Cockpit" theme.

Lexus has released the second teaser image of the 2015 RC F, ahead of its debut at the North American International Auto Show.




The company declined to release details but hinted the car will have "half the doors" and "twice the roar" of the IS F. Lexus also said the model will feature an "entirely new expression of design and uncompromising performance."




Nothing is official but previous reports have indicated the coupe will have carbon fiber body panels, Brembo brakes and a sport-tuned suspension with a 15mm reduced ride height. The car could also have a 5.0-liter V8 engine that develops approximately 455 bhp (339 kW) and 401 lb-ft (543 Nm) of torque.

Volkswagen has quietly announced plans to offer CUP variants of the up!, Golf / Golf Variant / Golf Cabriolet, Beetle / Beetle Convertible, Eos, Touran, Sharan and Tiguan.




The equipment varies by model but Volkswagen says the cars have "special optical elements" including revised trim, updated upholstery and special alloy wheels. Certain models also gain additional standard equipment including a Climatronic climate control system and an upgraded audio system.




The Golf Cabrio, Beetle Convertible and Eos can also be equipped with an Open Sky package, while the Golf / Golf Variant and Beetle / Beetle Convertible can be ordered with an R-Line exterior package that includes a sports suspension, special wheels and a progressive steering system (only on the Golf).

Did Holden accidentally reveal the Panamera-inspired Buick flagship in a new promo video?



An old rendering or a mysterious new model?


General Motors North American President recently said he wanted a Buick flagship that would be a "more beautiful [Porsche] Panamera" and a mysterious model with Panamera-inspired styling has just made a surprise debut in Holden's "Here to Stay" video.




While it's impossible to connect the two events, the picture shows a mysterious car with a Panamera-like rear end. We can also see muscular fenders, a dual exhaust system and what appears to be a rear hatch.




To add interest to intrigue, rumors suggested Holden was working on a Buick that would be based on the 2017 Commodore. Little is known about that particular model but it is reportedly a front-wheel drive sedan with a four-cylinder engine.

Size matters, in China at least


Mercedes' head of Research and Development has confirmed plans to build a long-wheelbase C-Class for China.




Speaking to Reuters, Prof. Dr. Thomas Weber said "There will be a long-wheelbase version for the specific needs of Chinese clients. This car will be built in China, exclusively for that market."




There's no word on specifications but the standard model is 95mm longer and 40mm wider than its predecessor. The 2014 C-Class also has a 2840mm long wheelbase which is 80mm longer than the outgoing model.




As we have previously reported, the 2014 C-Class will be launched with three engines including:




  • A 2.2-liter four-cylinder diesel with 170 HP (125 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque

  • A 1.6-liter four-cylinder petrol with 156 HP (115 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque

  • A 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol with 184 HP (135 kW) and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) of torque

Opel has launched the Turbocharged version of the Opel Cascada which is now more stronger, more attractive and more modern. This powerhouse Cascada is available for an entry-level price of 29,490 euros in Germany.



The new body colors underscore the Cascada's powerful, elegant appearance. Customers can now choose from sophisticated pearlescent Emerald Green lacquer or the double-layer metallic Magnetic Silver paint. In addition, the premium soft-top can now be ordered in light Khaki Grey.



Inside the cabin it offers the state-of-the-art, very user-friendly and fast IntelliLink infotainment system which comes with a seven-inch high-res touchscreen display and an optional rearview camera.



The 2014 Opel Cascada Turbo is powered by the 1.6-liter ECOTEC turbocharged engine with direct injection that develops 200 HP (147 kW) and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) of torque which is enough to grant the mid-size convertible with a top speed of 146 mph (235 km/h). The Cascada features exemplary elasticity, accelerating from 80 to 120 km/h in just 9.2 seconds in fifth gear. It will have a fuel consumption of 6.7 liters / 100 km (35.1 mpg US or 42.1 mpg UK) with corresponding CO2 emissions of 158 g/km.

BMW has revealed the new 2015 M3 Sedan and 2015 M4 Coupe, with both vehicles losing some pounds, offering more power and promising a continued focus on motorsports.



Low-slung and broad-set, the new BMW M3 Sedan and new BMW M4 Coupe share a finely balanced stance on the road. Large air intakes and Air Curtains at the front end, exposed carbon-fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) and aluminium body components, and the diffuser at the muscular rear end fulfill functional roles in terms of aerodynamics, cooling and weight saving.



The interior architecture comes complete with unimpeachable ergonomics and clear driver focus. Traditional BMW M equipment details includes M door sill finishers, an M driver's footrest, M gearshift lever, M-design circular instruments with white graphics, M leather steering wheel with chrome trim, colour contrast stitching and electroplatedlook shift paddles (if the M DCT gearbox is specified).



The M3 and M4 will be powered by 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder engine that develops 431 HP (317 kW) and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) of torque. Two transmissions will be available in the 2015 BMW M4 and 2015 BMW M3: a six-speed manual capable of rev-matched downshifts, and a seven-speed twin-clutch automatic.



The standard sprint from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) takes the new BMW M3 Sedan and new BMW M4 Coupe 4.1 seconds respectively. Top speed is 250 km/h / 155 mph (electronically limited), or 280 km/h / 174 mph if the optional M Driver's Package is specified. In terms of fuel efficiency, owners can expect to average 8.3 L/100 km (28.3 mpg US / 34 mpg UK) with CO2 emissions of 194 g/km.



The 2015 BMW M3 and 2015 BMW M4 will be officially revealed in January at the 2014 North American International Auto Show, and will go on sale in the summer of 2014. Pricing will be announced closer to launch.

The Sherco 250 SE is a modern off-roader that can deal effortless with anything you ask of it. The motorcycle weighs only 105 kg and is built around a 249.32 cc, 2 Stroke, single cylinder engine with electronically controlled exhaust valve and booster.



The engine has been redesigned for 2013 and now features a new cylinder head and a fresh crank case. Other improvements were made to the gearbox and clutch which is now lighter than the previous version.



Apart from the changes made to the engine and transmission, the 2013 Sherco 250 SE also comes with new suspensions settings, redesigned radiator scoops and a new radiator tank that helps you get a tighter turning radius.



All components are mounted on a high strength chrome-molybdenum steel semi-perimeter frame which features a double reinforced front section and shock absorber mount.

What is everyone wishing for Christmas? By the looks of the sales reports, the answer is a Mercedes CLA, as they are becoming rather difficult to get a hold of at dealerships.



Of course this does not come as a big surprise to us, because we were sure the CLA would be a huge hit right from the moment we first laid eyes upon it. It features an elegant look - the best of all the Mercedes sedans in our opinion - offers a highly equipped interior, and a carries a very competitive base price of $29,900.



In a letter addressed to its dealers, Mercedes officials announced that from February to June 2014, they should expect "tight inventories and low days supply" because the car's "overwhelming success." The company's plant is at full capacity, but even so, Mercedes has problems satisfying all the requests.



Mercedes itself called the new CLA the best launch they had in the past 20 months, as it enjoyed "phenomenal success right out of the gate." In fact the new CLA is one of the models that helped Mercedes to pass BMW for the first time in a very long time - in the first 10 months of 2013, Mercedes sold 245,145 cars in the U.S., which was 5,000 more than BMW sold.

At the 2012 Beijing Auto Show, Nissan has introduced its premium sedan segment to market in Japan and China is 2013 Nissan Cima. Nissan Cima was originally introduced in Japan in the late 1980s to compete with the Toyota Crown Majesta. From the mid-1990s, Cima is based on the equivalent version of the Infiniti Q45 series. Nissan Cima chose to base the long-wheelbase version of the Infiniti M35h.



As his partner China, which Nissan Cima features 5.9-inch (150mm) longer wheelbase than the Infiniti M and the standard rear passenger area highlighted by the additional legroom and lots of amenities such as entertainment systems and power seat-reclining, heated and cooled.



The new Nissan Cima is offered and comes with hybrid gasoline-electric powertrain is the same as that used Infiniti M35h 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine and electric motor provide a total system output of 359-horse. In Japan, prices for the Nissan Cima started at 7.35 million yen (U.S. $ 69,000) and increased to 8.4 million yen (U.S. $ 78,800). Nissan said it is targeting annual sales of 1,000 units.

The 2013 Hyundai Elantra coupe will go on sale later this month with a starting price of $18,220, including a $775 destination fee. That price is for a six-speed manual-transmission model; the six-speed automatic version will start at $19,220. The Elantra coupe is available in two trims: a base GS and upper-level SE.



The initial pricing puts the Elantra coupe above the 2012 Honda Civic coupe ($16,545) and the 2012 Kia Forte Koup ($17,950). The Hyundai comes with more standard features, however. They include fog lights, 16-inch alloy wheels, heated mirrors, heated front seats and Bluetooth.



The Elantra coupe SE, which starts at $20,520 with a manual transmission, comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, sport-tuned suspension, leather upholstery and a rear spoiler. On top of the SE trim (with automatic transmission), there’s a Technology Package that costs $2,350 and comes with a navigation system, backup camera, dual-zone automatic climate control and push-button start.



Earlier this week, Hyundai priced the 2013 Elantra GT hatchback at $19,170, including a $795 destination fee. It also goes on sale this month. The 2013 Elantra sedan has a base price of $17,470, including destination.

With an MSRP of $19,995, the 2012 Chevrolet Orlando is the least expensive seven-passenger vehicle you can buy in Canada; the Mazda5 has six seats, the North American C-MAX will get only five, and the Rondo EX with the optional third-row bench costs $23,795.



Now, don’t start planning a road trip to Vegas with six of your buddies just yet. The rearmost bench in the Orlando is best suited for kids; remember, this is a compact-sized vehicle. In addition, occupying all rows of seats leaves no room for cargo. You either haul stuff or a max load of passengers, not both. Same thing with the Mazda and the Kia.



Yet, with two or three kids, the Orlando makes a lot of sense. Flip down that third row and you get 739 litres of space, enough for carrying your family’s belongings. Fold down the second row as well, and you get about 1,600 litres of volume; only the Rondo is bigger inside.



One advantage I think the Mazda has over the Chevy concerns its sliding side doors. Kids can carelessly open their door in a shopping centre parking lot and dent the car beside; not so with sliding doors. The Orlando also has rather wide B-pillars, which create blind spots when you’re trying to merge into traffic or change lanes.



The Chevrolet Orlando benefits from supportive seats up front and a good driving position. The switchgear layout is also well thought-out, while the sound system includes a USB port in our tester, concealed in a storage compartment behind the button interface; unfortunately, bigger USB keys will prevent you from closing the lid. And navigating through MP3 file folders is a little fussy.



Every Orlando is equipped with a 2.4L inline-4, which develops 174 hp and 171 lb-ft of torque. A 6-speed manual is available, but we think 95% of buyers will choose the 6-speed automatic instead. The 0-100 km/h sprint takes 10.4 seconds with the automatic, while fuel economy ratings are 10.6/6.9 L/100km city/highway.



Unfortunately, our average of 12L/100km isn’t nearly as impressive. We’re driving conservatively, we’re easing away from stoplights very smoothly, and at 100 km/h, the engine spins at only 1,900 rpm; heck, we’re eco-driving the Orlando, and it’s still consuming more than expected. Ironically, the bigger and heavier Equinox crossover boasts better fuel economy ratings.



Fuel issues aside, the 2.4L engine is up to the task of getting the Orlando up to speed swiftly, while the ride is comfortable for everyone including rear-seat passengers. However, the on-center feel of the electric-assist steering isn’t very precise. Overall, Chevy’s multipurpose vehicle may not be as fun to drive as the sportier Mazda5, but it isn’t a chore either.



The base Orlando LS includes keyless entry, power windows, six airbags, a 6-speaker stereo as well as traction and electronic stability control systems, while A/C is optional. The 1LT gains a telescopic steering column, power heated mirrors, body-coloured door handles and cruise control. Adding goodies such as alloy wheels, Bluetooth connectivity, a USB port and heated seats brings us up to the 2LT, which starts at $23,595.



Our tester is the top-shelf LTZ trim, however, with the optional leather seating package and power sunroof. Total price before taxes, freight and delivery charges: $30,505.



In comparison, a loaded Mazda5 GT costs $28,430, while a Kia Rondo EX V6 Luxury costs $27,195.



The Chevrolet Orlando is a competent multipurpose vehicle that can hold its own against its rivals, and so far this year, it’s selling slightly better than both the 5 and the Rondo. The LTZ trim is too expensive, but a 2LT is a reasonable deal for what’s included with it.

Engineers from KTW Tuning and TechArt collaborated to modify a Porsche 911 (991) Carrera S.




The aftermarket package includes a new body kit which brings redesigned exterior mirrors, side skirts, a fixed rear wing and 21-inch powder coated FORMULA III forged rims. The vehicle has also been equipped with TechArt's nose lift system while at the back there's a custom exhaust system equipped with valve control.




This particular 911 has also gained an overhauled interior with new seats, steering wheel, center console and dashboard, as well as red safety belts, unique floor mats and bespoke alloy pedals.




There haven't been any changes in the engine department so the Porsche 911 Carrera S continues to pack a 6-cylinder 3.8-liter engine developing 400 HP (294 kW) and 440 Nm (324 lb-ft) of torque sent to the rear axle.

MB Individual Cars just finished off developing a carbon fiber package for the second-gen BMW Z4.




Only 25 of these kits will be offered to Z4 owners who will agree to pay 3,999 EUR for a custom front spoiler lip, rear spoiler and side sills made from carbon fiber. The kidney grills, rear diffuser insertion and the turn signals will receive a similar treatment, while the 19-inch alloys shod in Continental tires will cost extra.




The BMW Z4 (E89) also comes with H&R front and rear wheel spacing, KW Variant 1 coilovers and 90mm carbon end pipes for the exhaust system. Other notable changes include an F30 performance braking kit for the front wheels and many carbon fiber touches for the cabin where there are BMW performance seats.




Starting next year, MB Individual Cars will offer some power upgrades for the Z4 available through the tuner's software optimizations.

Jaguar car maker has announced new car with called 2013 Jaguar XJ Ultimate. A full-length, leather-trimmed centre console separates the two individually tailored rear seats which feature power adjustment, ventilation, massage and lumbar functions. A table, machined from solid aluminium with piano-black and chrome detailing, rises up from the centre console at the touch of a button to provide a working area, its role supplemented by the provision of two third-generation iPads with wireless keyboards that are housed in bespoke leather-trimmed docks in the rear of the front seats.



To underline its purpose in ensuring that passengers remain cosseted at all times, the Jaguar XJ Ultimate features revisions to the suspension to optimise rear ride comfort, with no compromise to the car's breadth of dynamic ability.



The exterior detailing of the 2013 Jaguar XJ Ultimate offers discreet clues to the model's figurehead status with sculpted lower air intakes chromed to match the grille, polished stainless steel oval exhaust pipe finishers, unique dual-surfaced alloy wheels and subtle 'Ultimate' badging.



The XJ Ultimate is available with Jaguar's existing 5.0-litre V8 supercharged petrol engine, its powerful and efficient 3.0-litre V6 turbocharged diesel, and a new 3.0-litre V6 supercharged petrol unit, all driving the rear wheels via an eight-speed transmission.



The Jaguar XJ introduced a mouldbreaking coup design ethos to its class, taking Jaguar's established principle of long, unbroken feature lines and applying them to a decidedly 21st century form. Dramatically different from its competitors, the all-aluminium XJ captures the essential Jaguar design elements of elegance, muscularity, sleekness and strength.



2013 Jaguar XJ Ultimate will also be offered with a new 3.0-litre V6 supercharged petrol engine being introduced to the range for the 2013 model year. This engine, which in the Jaguar XJ Ultimate will produce 340PS and 450Nm, draws on the award-winning technology inherent to Jaguar's V8 and offers similar performance to the naturally-aspirated version of that engine (which is not available in the XJ Ultimate), but with the emissions and fuel economy advantages of a V6.

Aston Martin AM 310 Vanquish officially release


2013 Aston Martin Vanquish


The new Vanquish - known internally as the project AM310 - replaces the DBS in Aston Martin range, even though it uses the Vanquish name. Underneath the new-look body, which is part DBS, part One-77, The Vanquish is pretty much identical to the current DBS, and is powered by the same V12 engine as well.



This V12 powerplant - which by the way has a working class background, as it's two Mondeo V6s welded together - in the new Vanquish makes 573 PS at 6,750 rpm, 620 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm, which is enough to take the car from 0 to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds, and onto to a top speed of 186 mph.



To be launched later this year, the new Vanquish will have a base price of 189,995. Stay tuned for more official details and pictures.

The 2012 Mitsubishi i-MiEV Announced

A rear-wheel-drive four-door hatchback with staggered wheels and a mere 2,579 pounds distributed 45/55. From the folks who gave us the Evo. Sounds awesome, doesn't it? But the Mitsubishi i-MiEV (conversationally referred to as either the "i" OR the "meev") isn't that sort of car. Its focus is just as narrow as the Evo's but could hardly be more different: the cheapest, most energy-efficient electric car you can buy in the United States. How cheap? The i-MiEV's low-20s price (after a $7,500 tax credit) isn't much higher than that of a Toyota Prius c, the cheapest, most energy-efficient hybrid.



The Prius succeeded in part because it looked like nothing else. Even the most car-ignorant person can readily identify one. The i-MiEV similarly won't be confused with any other car. Even the wipers are radically different (the one on the right was bent upwards by engineers, not hooligans). But will Americans identify this ultra-compact egg-on-wheels as a car at all? The Prius c is nearly 20 inches less lengthy than the regular Prius. The i-MiEV (despite sharing a 100.4-inch wheelbase) is another foot shorter still (144.7 vs. 157.3 inches). The Mitsubishi is also over four inches narrower (62.4 vs. 66.7 inches) but nearly seven inches taller (63.6 vs. 56.9 inches). This is after being widened a couple of inches for North America. Road-legal cars with four doors don't get any smaller in North America. Even SUVs are generally wider than they are tall.



Given the price range, it should come as no surprise that nearly every interior surface save the seats is hard plastic in both cars. The i-MiEV's interior nevertheless manages to seem much more spartan than the Prius c's.



The EPA (which tends to be conservative on this metric) says it'll go 62 miles on a charge while getting the gas equivalent of 126 miles-per-gallon city, 99 highway, and 112 combined. Only the upcoming Honda Fit EV does better, 118 combined, and it will be lease-only. The upcoming Focus EV checks in at 105, and the LEAF at 99. At the average electricity price of 12 cents per kWh, the i-MiEV costs about two dollars to recharge. In my driving the Prius c, with EPA ratings of 53 city, 46 highway, and 50 combined, averaged about 62 miles-per-gallon (additional details and photos here). It might be the most fuel-efficient gas-powered car, but in terms of fuel cost per mile it's still about double the i-MiEV.

In the US, the GranTurismo Sport has an automatic transmission and the MC Auto Shift software allows on-the-limit gears changes, double declutching when changing up as well as the activation of launch control for sprint starts. In the interior, the digital rev counter and a sportier set up for the accelerator distinguish the new Maserati GranTurismo Sport from other GranTurismo models. On the exterior, the GranTurismo Sport boasts an exhaust with twin oval tailpipes boasting management software that opens the silencer valves that, when open, produce the deep pure Maserati engine note.
