Delivers Sheer Electric Driving Pleasure
BMW has decided to give our spy photographers a break as they have released several new pictures of an i3 prototype undergoing cold weather testing.
The company didn't have much to say about the model but confirmed it recently completed an endurance test near the Arctic Circle. BMW went on to say the test was successful and the i3 delivered "Sheer Electric Driving Pleasure."
As we have previously reported, the i3 concept featured an electric motor with 170 HP (125 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque. It enabled the model to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.9 seconds, hit a top speed of 150 km/h (93 mph) and travel 130-160 km (80-100 miles) on a single charge.
To appease those with range anxiety, BMW will offer an i3 REx with a range-extending engine. It will reportedly use a two-cylinder motorcycle engine to allow the model to travel up to 186 miles (300 km) between fill-ups or recharging stations.
