2013 Volkswagen Golf VI R Cabriolet

0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 6.4 seconds

Volkswagen has released technical details and pricing info for the Golf VI R Cabriolet. It begins from 38,770 GBP in the UK and 43,325 EUR in Germany.

With the Golf VII already on sale across Europe, VW is a bit late in the game with the Golf VI R Cabriolet. Available on order this spring, the last hurrah of the sixth-gen Golf is powered by a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine linked to a 6-speed DSG producing 265 HP (195 kW) which is enough for a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in 6.4 seconds and an electronically-limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).

It rides on 18- or 19-inch alloys and has a 25mm lowered suspension compared to the regular Golf VI Cabrio. The R version has received bi-xenon headlights, LED DRLs, side sill extensions, chrome-tipped exhausts, glossy black rear diffuser and door mirror housings.

Inside it has four individual sport seats and multi-function steering wheel wrapped in leather, aluminum pedals and "R" logos in the head restraints. The fully electric insulated top can be lowered in 9.5 seconds and raised in 11 seconds. This procedure can be done at speeds of up to 18 mph (29 km/h).
