Sure beats paying $1.1 million for one

The 2014 Corvette Stingray is a hot commodity as the first one managed to sell for $1.1 million (€811,330) at the Barrett-Jackson auction, but Baltimore Ravens Quarterback Joe Flacco managed to snag one for free by being named the MVP of Super Bowl XLVII.

The Corvette was presented to Flacco by Banner Chevrolet which lost their entire inventory of 650 new and 120 pre-owned vehicles during Hurricane Katrina. As Banner Chevrolet President Rick Flick explained “I’m happy we are still a vital part of this community today and I can be here to represent the people of Chevrolet and its dealerships as we celebrate the Super Bowl MVP.”

As we have previously reported, the Corvette Stingray features a 6.2-liter LT1 V8 engine that develops an estimated 450 bhp (336 kW) and 450 lb-ft (609 Nm) of torque. It should allow the vehicle to accelerate from 0-60 mph in less than four seconds and return 26+ mpg highway (US).
