2013 Volvo V40 R-Design live in Paris 28.9.2012

V40 goes sporty and rugged

Volvo has introduced the V40 Cross Country and R-Design at the Paris Motor Show.

First up, the Cross Country is a rugged hatchback with an increased ride height, plastic body cladding and contrasting skid plates.

Engine options carryover from the standard model and include everything from a 1.6-liter diesel with 115 bhp (84 kW) to a 254 bhp (187 kW) 2.5-liter T5 engine that can be paired to an optional all-wheel drive system.

On the other hand, the V40 R-Design is distinguished by a new front bumper, a rear diffuser, "silk metal" accents and 17-inch alloy wheels.

Interior changes are limited but include a sport steering wheel, revised instrumentation and embossed seats. There's also alloy pedals and unique aluminum trim.

The Cross Country will go into production in November, while the R-Design will be launched in January.
