Ariel Motor Company has released their updated version of the Ariel Atom 3, the Ariel Atom 3.5. The upgrades include a suspension upgrade, new digital LCD dashboard display with gear-shift lights, a restyled bonnet, twin projector headlamps and LED turn, stop and tail lights.
The engineers at Ariel used many of the lessons learned from the Atom V8 and Mugen version and used it in the development of the new 3.5 model version. The chassis has improved stiffness and torsional rigidity. New shock absorbers and engine mounts are also among the novelties. They achieve a more compliant on-road ride and better balance and traction on track.
The standard engine is kept unchanged, only the supercharged variant gets more power. You still get the 2.0 liter VTEC engine fitted behind the two seats. The four-cylinder engine offers a stock performance of 240hp, the supercharged version gets 315hp. The changes to the intake, mapping and fuel system offer a more mid range power.
The interior has a new digital display with gear-shift lights. A data logger is available on the option list. It records G-forces, lap times and additional track day information. Quite useful on the track.
The Ariel Atom 3.5 is available as we speak for customers across the world. Pricing has not yet been revealed.
