Toyota i-Road prototypes to begin testing in Japan [video]

Company aims to gather valuable feedback

Toyota will soon begin conducting consumer trails of the i-Road in Tokyo, Japan.

Originally unveiled as a concept, the i-Road prototypes feature a number of changes that improve visibility, maneuverability and ease-of-use. Despite the changes, the prototypes still feature a distinctive tilting design that promises to combine the "convenience of a motorcycle with the comfort and stability of a car."

The tests will wrap up in June and Toyota aims to "gauge the effectiveness of the electric vehicle in everyday situations in urban areas." It remains unclear if the company is considering a production variant but they are asking users to provide feedback on everything from driver satisfaction to the driving feel.
