Ford Focus facelift officially revealed with new EcoBoost and diesel engines [videos]

Following last weekend's leak, Ford has officially revealed the facelifted Focus range which will make its first appearance in public next week in Geneva.

Ford has applied a major facelift on the best-seller Focus which looks far more refined and evolved than the outgoing version. The Blue Oval company has mounted redesigned bumpers, restyled headlights and taillights, along with four completely new body panels and the Aston Martin-like front grille which suits the model better than the one on the smaller Fiesta.

The changes go skin deep as the refreshed Focus benefits from upgraded front dampers which have two additional steps in damper valving. Also new are the stiffer front and rear bushes which will provide the vehicle with an improved stability. In addition, Ford's engineers have updated the electric power steering and reprogrammed the ESC system.

In terms of motorization, the facelifted Focus will be sold with a new 1.5-liter EcoBoost gasoline turbocharged engine offered with 150 HP (110 kW) and 180 HP (132 kW). There's also a new 1.5-liter TDCi turbodiesel available with 95 HP (70 kW) and 120 HP (88 KW).

Other engines offered include the familiar 1.0-liter EcoBoost with 100 HP (74 kW) and 125 HP (92 kW), along with a 1.6-liter TI-VCT gasoline with 85 HP (63 kW), 105 HP (77 kW) and 125 HP (92 kW). Customers will also have the possibility of configuring the Focus with a 95 HP / 115 HP 1.6-liter TDCi and a 150 HP 2.0-liter TDCi, along with a 145 HP (107 kW) electric variant.

Depending on the engine choices, the facelifted Ford Focus will be available with five- and six-speed manual gearboxes, as well as a six-speed automatic and a six-speed PowerShift automatic. The U.S.-spec model will be offered for the first time with the 3-cylinder, 1.0-liter EcoBoost linked exclusively to a six-speed manual.

Step inside the cabin and you will immediately notice significantly less buttons as Ford has decided to go with a more simple and ergonomic layout and also installed the SYNC 2 connectivity system with an eight-inch touchscreen color display. The three-spoke steering wheel is also new and adopts a sportier appearance, while the denser carpets, better engine insulation and thicker side window glass should offer a quieter ride.

The revitalized Ford Focus lineup will be shown starting next week at the 84^th Geneva Motor Show.

Hyundai has taken the wraps off the Intrado concept which will receive its first public outing next week at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show.

After a teaser photo and several leaked images, Hyundai is ready to show its latest concept which represents the firm's first product to be developed under the direction of Peter Schreyer. The exterior styling represents an evolution of the firm's fluidic sculpture form language with a focus on aerodynamic efficiency and minimal detailing. The concept's body panels have been manufactured from lightweight steel developed at the company's steel plant.

The simple yet functional interior cabin uses advanced materials, along with see-through air vents and exposed carbon fiber. It benefits from a central carbon frame structure made by using newly developed manufacturing and joining techniques for which Hyundai has a patent filing to register the technology.

Motivation is provided by a next-gen hydrogen fuel-cell powertrain that contains a 36 kWh lithium-ion battery. Refueling takes only a few minutes and at full capacity the Intrado can cover a distance of up to 373 miles (600 km).

The 2015 MINI Cooper five-door has been spied showing new details.

Caught in broad daylight, the model features shorter front doors and two new rear doors. There also appears to be a new side window and a tailgate-mounted spoiler.

While the rear doors will improve access to the rear seat, the latest spy photos show the opening is relatively small and best left for children and petite adults.

Engine options are expected to carryover from the standard model so choices should include:

• A 1.5-liter three-cylinder petrol with 134 bhp (100 kW) and 170 lb-ft (230 Nm) of torque


• A 1.5-liter three-cylinder diesel with 114 bhp (85 kW) and 199 lb-ft (269 Nm) of torque


• A 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol with 189 bhp (141 kW) and 221 lb-ft (300 Nm) of torque

 

Manager denies Schu awakening efforts stopped

Michael Schumacher's manager on Monday denied reports doctors have stopped trying to end the seven time world champion's long coma.

The latest edition of the German newsmagazine Focus, which is said to be close to Schumacher's inner circle, said "complications" had led the doctors at the Grenoble hospital to abandon efforts - which began almost four weeks ago - to wake the former Ferrari and Mercedes driver.

"This (awakening) phase can take a long time, which much to our regret can lead to many misinterpretations," Schumacher's manager Kehm told the German news agency DPA.

Kehm, insisting that only official medical updates could be trusted, clarified that the status of 45-year-old Schumacher's recovery was "unchanged".

 

Ford unveils F-150 "The Crimefighter" at Comic-Con

Ford revealed this week at Comic-Con in San Diego the F-150 "The Crimefighter" as a tribute to the original Batmobile.

They joined forces with Galpin Auto Sports to create a special pickup truck for Batman in case he wants to do some home improvements and has to carry heavy and bulky materials. It was designed by Jared Barris who is the grandson of George Barris, a well-known car customizer.

The vehicle of choice was a 2012MY F-150 which has received the "Crimefighter" moniker. It was painted in Tuxedo Black with Ferrari Red accents and comes with fins on each side of the bed.

Galpin Auto Sports announced they are currently taking orders for this custom F-150. There's no word about price but has to be significantly cheaper than the original 1966 Batmobile which was sold in January at a Barrett-Jackson auction for 4.62M USD.

Second-gen due in 2015

We received an additional batch of spy photos with the facelifted Dacia Duster, prior to its Frankfurt arrival in September.

The Romanian budget off-roader went on sale in 2010 which means time has come for a nip and tuck to keep the model fresh and competitive. Despite the very low price tag, sales of the Duster haven't lived up to Renault's expectations which hope this revision to both front and rear fascias will increase deliveries.

Dacia will focus on tweaking the bumpers and head/taillights, while the car's sides will be left untouched. Some minor changes inside the cabin are expected, along with the possibility of new engines provided by Renault.

Our sources have informed us Dacia is already working on the second generation model which is scheduled to come out in 2015.

MINI has revealed a trio of summer getaway cars in the form of a Clubvan Camper, Cowley and Countryman ALL4 Camp.

Clubvan Camper is being described as "world's smallest luxury camper van" offering a sleeping berth for one person along with a small, extendible kitchenette featuring a chest fridge and propane stove. Other goodies include a glass-made roof which can be opened, a satellite-navigation system and a built-in hand-held shower with a water tank installed underneath the load floor.

The MINI Cowley caravan comes with two sleeping berths, a twin-burner gas stove and a water tank with pump and sink facility. The on-board battery is charged via a solar module, while the 230-volt connection powers the TV/DVD, fridge and audio system. Its teardrop-shaped trailer has sliding windows on both doors and weighs less than 300 kg (661 lbs).

As for the MINI Countryman ALL4 Camp, this concept has a roof-mounted tent big enough for two people and can be folded out of its storage box when necessary. The vehicle wears an Absolute Black metallic paint and provides easy bicycle transportation thanks to the custom rack.

A prototype of the Lotus Exige-bodied Renault/Caterham Alpine has been spied testing once again at the Nürburgring.

Judging by the French license plates this is a different prototype than the one photographed earlier this week but it looks virtually the same with its Lotus Exige body and beefier wheel arches. The prototype in these latest spy photos was seen on another occasion being tested by Swedish suspension firm Öhlins together with the Clio RS and Megane RS.

Like we mentioned a couple of days ago, there will be several differences between the two cars. A 1.6-liter turbocharged engine producing as much as 300 bhp (224 kW) is rumored for at least one of the cars. Since there will be output differences, we assume Caterham's version will be the lesser model as it will carry a significantly lower price tag.

A preview concept of Caterham's model will be unveiled in the first half of next year with a different name since only Renault's version will get to use the Alpine moniker. It will look "distinctively British" and people will easily recognize the car as a Caterham, according to a source from within the company.

Renault's marketing chief Stephen Norman says their version won't be soft but neither will it be "more hardcore than a Mazda MX-5." Some reports are suggestion the Renault Alpine will use an engine bigger than the rumored 1.6, with some saying it will be a turbocharged 2.0-liter mill. The car has been confirmed for a late 2015 launch.

Volkswagen Golf VII GTD filmed in the metal, including 0-100 km/h sprint

The 2013 Volkswagen Golf VII GTD was filmed at a dealership wearing a Carbon Steel Grey paint scheme.

The most powerful diesel Golf VII comes with a four-cylinder, 2.0-liter engine delivering 181 bhp (135 kW) and 280 lb-ft (379 Nm). Volkswagen says it can do the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in 7.5 seconds but the video below shows the run is completed in 7.17 seconds (with room for improvement). Top speed has increased from Golf VI GTD's 138 mph (222 km/h) to 143 mph (230 km/h) thanks to an extra 13 bhp (9.6 kW) and 22 lb-ft (30 Nm).

Compared to the Golf VII GTI, the GTD model doesn't have the red trim on the front grille and in the headlights, while the alloys have a slightly different design. The GTD is also more economical as it can return 56 mpg US (67.3 mpg UK or 4.1 liters / 100 km) whereas the GTI will do 39.2 mpg US (47 mpg UK or 6.0 liters / 100 km).

Topping the Volkswagen Golf VII lineup will be the R version due next year which is rumored to have somewhere in the region of 300 bhp (224 kW).

Renault has created a special Black Edition of the Dacia Duster to celebrate this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The special edition is based on the Duster Ambiance dCi 110 4x2 model and can be distinguished by its brushed black vinyl wrap and larger 18-inch alloy wheels. The interior cabin has gained leather upholstery along with a Kenwood media system with a six-inch high-resolution display and support for Bluetooth with hands-free calling. The system also has DAB radio, Garmin satellite-navigation with TMC traffic info, USB/iPod support and DVD playback.

The Dacia Duster Black Edition is available at an on-the-road-price of 17,575 GBP. A facelifted model has been confirmed for a September debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Race Tools has introduced the first tuning program for the 2014 Mercedes S-Class.

The S 350 BlueTEC can be equipped with an optimized ECU which enables the 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine to produce 300 HP (220 kW) and 670 Nm (494 lb-ft) of torque - an increase of 42 HP (30 kW) and 50 Nm (37 lb-ft) of torque.

The S500, on the other hand, can be equipped with one of two different packages. The €597 CR plug-in module enables the 4.7-liter V8 engine to develop 491 HP (361 kW) and 780 Nm (575 lb-ft) of torque - an improvement of 35 HP (26 kW) and 80 Nm (59 lb-ft). Moving up to the €1,537 version cranks up the output to 516 HP (379 kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque - an increase of 60 HP (44 kW) and 100 Nm (73 lb-ft) of torque. Detailed performance specifications were not released, but this package also raises the top speed to 297 km/h (185 mph).

The performance accessories will go on sale this weekend and be available to international customers.

Porsche confirms Macan production for December

Porsche has quietly announced the 2014 Macan will go into production in December.

The announcement comes hot on the heels of the completion of a new paint shop which required nine air vents to be lifted into place by a helicopter. The paint shop is just part of a €500 ($656 / £430) million investment into the Leipzig plant to prepare it to build the new crossover.

According to Porsche Executive Board Chairman Siegfried Bülow, "This will complete the next major step in the preparatory stage of production of the Porsche Macan. The paint shop facilities have already been installed and the first car bodies will be painted in a test-operation as early as August. We are on schedule and are very keen to see the first car roll off the production-line in December."

Full weight reductions can't happen until 2019

The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra have an evolutionary design and that could come back to haunt them.

Reuters is reporting the trucks won't be able benefit from an extensive weight reduction program until they are redesigned in 2019. This means Ford will beat them to the punch with the 2015 Ford F-150 which is expected to weigh as much as 750 lbs (340 kg) less than its predecessor. As a result, the F-150 could have significantly better fuel economy than the Silverado and Sierra for next four to five years.

When asked about the situation, GM spokesman Tom Wilkinson told Reuters "We're going to look at all the levers we can pull - materials, aerodynamics, powertrain - to continue to improve fuel efficiency, both on an interim basis and as we go to the next-generation trucks." He declined to go into specifics but sources suggest the company could introduce an aluminum-intensive Silverado as early as next year. The variant could weigh 250 lbs (113 kg) less than the standard model and have fuel economy gains of up to 20 percent.

While the trucks won't benefit from a full makeover until 2019, the company will reportedly make annual updates to reduce weight. Nothing is official but sources suggest the company is working with suppliers to create lighter springs, axles and driveshafts.

The first pictures of the BMW X6 M Design Edition have leaked to the web.

Set to go on sale next month, the limited edition model will be distinguished by a carbon fiber front splitter, gloss black accents and 21-inch alloy wheels. We can also see a tailgate-mounted spoiler and body side graphics.

The cabin comes nicely equipped with Merino leather seats, contrast stitching and a two-tone dashboard. There's also piano black trim and an individually-numbered plaque.

Power will likely be provided by a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine that develops with 555 HP (408 kW) and 680 Nm (502 lb-ft) of torque. It should enable the crossover to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.7 seconds and hit a limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).

Production will reportedly be limited to 100 units, but there's no word on pricing.

Citroen has made its reputation building innovative and forward-thinking cars. Since the post WWII days with the Citroen DS, the French automaker has always thought outside the box, and this C4 Cactus is no exception.

The two defining outward features are unmistakably its unique yet familiar shape and the colored, bumpy panels affixed to its sides. While they are major components in making the C4 Cactus what it is, they aren't its only innovative or interesting qualities. Other endearing qualities can be found within as well.

The C4 Cactus' interior looks like a cross between an IKEA and a classy men's wardrobe boutique, with Android software running the infotainment system and gauge cluster. Materials and their overall design are high quality with a certain vogue, yet timeless attribute.

While certain things inside and out might seem expensive, Citroen's goal was to significantly reduce the cost of ownership - and they've done it by a good 20 percent. Fuel savings goes a long way in saving owners money, namely its 91 mpg rating in diesel form measured on the European cycle. Weight savings also plays a huge role here. Weighing in at a mere 2,127 pounds, the Cactus is said to be much easier on its running gear, lessening the need to replace parts as often.

Citroen seems most proud of saving customers money in the area of body damage. The Cactus' Airbump system reduces the chance of parking lot dings and minor finder bender damage with its thermoplastic polyurethane construction and air-filled pockets. Even with their purposeful nature, the Airbump panels sure make a bold statement while living up to its Cactus name.

While news about the new 650S is still hot off the press, we did confirm something while going through the press release - there will be a spyder version.

The news of the availability of the Spyder is certainly good for volume, considering that it's biggest rival, the 458 Speciale, does not come in convertible form.

2014 Renault Clio Cup gets detailed

Renault has released new details about the 2014 Clio Cup.

Based on the Clio R.S. 200 EDC, the Cup features an aerodynamic body kit with an aggressive front fascia, a roof-mounted scoop and a tailgate-mounted spoiler. There's also a rear diffuser, a dual exhaust system and 17-inch Speedline Corse wheels which can be fitted with either Dunlop or Michelin tires.

The race-spec interior has a digital dashboard, a multi-function steering wheel and a Sabelt racing seat with a six-point harness and a HANS compatible headrest. There's also a welded roll cage that is significantly stronger than bolt-in units.

Motivation is provided by a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 220 HP (161 kW) and 270 Nm (199 lb-ft) of torque. It is connected to a Sadev six-speed sequential transmission which can change gears in just 100 milliseconds.

Other highlights include a Cosworth SQ7DI ECU, ZF Race Engineering adjustable shock absorbers and a high-performance braking system with Brembo calipers and ventilated front discs that measure 320mm.

The FIA-approved turn-key racer will go on sale in September and pricing starts at €37,800 (excluding VAT).

Kelleners Sport has released the first pictures of their upcoming tuning program for the BMW 6-Series GranCoupe.

Looking bold an aggressive, the model has been equipped with a new front bumper that has honeycomb inserts and an integrated spoiler. We can also see a ventilated hood, revised side skirts, attractive alloy wheels and front fender vent surrounds.

The sporty styling continues out back as there's a trunk-mounted spoiler, a sports exhaust system and a new rear bumper with an integrated diffuser which should improve downforce.

There's no word on any performance modifications, but Kelleners offers optimized ECUs for the 6-Series Coupe and Convertible, so we wouldn't be surprised if they are also available on the GranCoupe.

2014 BMW 4-Series with M Performance parts revealed [VIDEO AND LIVE PHOTOS ADDED]

BMW revealed yesterday in Lisbon, Portugal the 4-Series Coupe fitted with M Performance parts, giving us a first taste of the upcoming M4 Coupe.

It looks considerably more aggressive than the standard model thanks to a new body kit with a deeper front bumper that has a carbon fiber splitter and larger air ducts. Other changes include xenon/LED headlamps, 20-inch alloy wheels and several blackened chrome trims for the window surrounds, tail pipes and grille.

We also notice the beefier side sills and carbon fiber exterior mirror housings, together with a boot deck spoiler made from the same lightweight material. The revised rear bumper has air extraction ducts and a built-in diffuser, while the sides of the car are adorned by new decals. The interior cabin boasts a redesigned three-spoke steering wheel and sport seats, stainless steel pedals and footrest, M Performance floor mats and carbon fiber trim for the hand brake and gearshift levers.

BMW says the 4-Series Coupe fitted with the M Performance package brings an extra 16 bhp (12 kW) and 29 lb-ft (39 Nm) for the 420d model which is powered by a 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine. The added oomph increases total output to 195 bhp (145 kW) and 309 lb-ft (418 Nm). The 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine in the 428i is also upgraded to 269 bhp (200 kW) and 287 lb-ft (389 Nm), representing an increase of 27 bhp (20 kW) and 29 lb-ft (39 Nm). In addition, the 435i with its turbocharged 6-cylinder, 3.0-liter gasoline engine gains 34 bhp (25 kW) and 37 lb-ft (50 Nm) for a total of 336 bhp (250 kW) and 332 lb-ft (450 Nm). All these power upgrades are done via new exhaust systems and software tweaks.

From the M Performance Parts catalog customers will have the possibility of selecting a limited-slip differential which will be a clutch-type unit featuring a 30 percent lock-up.

It is believed the BMW M4 Coupe will be unveiled in January 2014 at the Detroit Motor Show.

These are the first images with the Seat Leon ST which will premiere in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Seat launched the all-new Leon five-door hatchback last year and expanded the lineup with a sleeker three-door coupe a few months ago with the SC model. Now, they are about to add a third body style in the form of a more practical ST variant which will provide a cargo capacity of 587 liters with the seats up. It's a bit less than its cousins as the Golf VII Variant has 605 liters while the Octavia Combi provides 610 liters for cargo.

In terms of design, there isn't pretty much to talk about since it looks like a stretched version of the regular model with roof rails and different multi-spoke alloys. The taillights appear to be slightly rounder and larger compared to the hatchback but overall the design is almost identical. This isn't really a surprise as Volkswagen and Skoda used the same recipe on the Golf Variant and Octavia Combi, respectively.

Engine lineup will be carried over from the other two body styles so expect TSIs from a 1.2-liter with 86 HP (63 kW) to a 1.8-liter developing 180 HP (132 kW). Diesel offering will include a 1.6-liter TDI with 90 HP (66 kW) and 105 HP (77 kW), together with a 2.0-liter TDI offering with 150 HP (110 kW) and 184 HP (135 kW).

Seat's R&D boss Matthias Rabe confirmed the Leon ST will be offered in a right-hand, four-wheel drive version with the 4MOTION system borrowed from the Golf VII. Following the ST's launch, Seat will reveal before the end of the year the hotter Leon Cupra hatchback and coupe, while a Cupra ST model is not certain at this moment.

Daimler CEO Dr. Dieter Zetsche has revealed some new details about Mercedes future product lineup.

Speaking at the company's annual press conference, Zetsche said "Having reworked the core members of E-Class family last year, we now plan to move further ahead in October. That's when the family will be joined by a new generation of CLS Coupe and CLS Shooting Brake." Despite saying they are part of a "new generation," they are actually just the facelifted models we've spotted countless times before.

Zetsche also confirmed the new Smart ForTwo will be 2.69m long and the ForFour will have "more interior space than any comparable competitor model despite a length of only 3.5m." The executive went on to say the ForFour will be unveiled in July and go on sale in the fourth quarter.

Zetsche also reaffirmed plans to introduce an all-new sports car and unveil the S-Class Coupe at the Geneva Motor Show.

Lotus 'better prepared' than rivals - Lopez [video]

Gerard Lopez, the Lotus team owner, has played down suggestions the Enstone squad is still grappling with financial problems.

The team's problems of late last year, when Kimi Raikkonen went unpaid and crucial negotiations with the Quantum group faltered, are well known.

But Lopez said that the decision not to test the new car at Jerez recently is not because Lotus had no money.

"We said that there would be some (technical) trouble and it was actually the case," the Luxembourger, referring to the Red Bull-Renault crisis, told France's Infosport Plus.

"I know we had a lot of criticism, people said we lack the budget but that is wrong because it cost us the same to go (to Jerez) a week later," Lopez insisted.

Lotus gave its new E22 a successful rollout at Jerez on Saturday, a week after the other Renault powered teams, notably world champions Red Bull, faltered so badly.

"Maybe we are better prepared," said Lopez. "Maybe our strategy to wait and work at the factory was the better one.

"We will see in Bahrain. We will not mention the others, or at least not as much as they mention us."

 

Volvo announces new concept for Geneva Motor Show next month

Volvo has disclosed plans to exhibit a brand new concept in early March at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show.

Back in September 2013 we saw Volvo's stunning Concept Coupe at the Frankfurt Motor Show which was followed last month by the Concept XC Coupe at NAIAS in Detroit. Now, Volvo is getting ready to showcase the third and final concept part of this series and they will do it next month at the Geneva Motor Show.

Just like the other two concepts, the new one is going to ride on Volvo's newly developed chassis entitled Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) with power coming from an all-new Drive-E engine.

The new Volvo concept will be unveiled during a conference programmed for March 4^th at 1:30 PM.

Proton Savvy successor shows its interior in latest spy pics

To be a global model

Our spies have sent us an additional batch of photos with the Proton Savvy successor which gives us the opportunity to have a look at the interior cabin.

These prototypes were spotted outside of a facility located in Sweden owned by Continental as they are currently testing the small five-door hatchback which according to Proton is going to be a global model. Set to be unveiled in the next few months, the B-segment model will replace the Savvy in Proton's lineup and is currently referred to as the Global Small Car (GSC).

The modest interior cabin shows the Malaysian automaker will offer the new model with leather upholstery, an automatic transmission and what appears to be a smallish touchscreen display for the infotainment system. The all-black cabin is spiced up with a few silver touches on the door handles, handbrake lever and on the multimedia system.

We also notice a three-spoke steering wheel with built-in buttons, along with a power socket and USB connectivity in the lower central area of the dashboard. The interior is not finalized as these prototypes came with a red emergency stop button which obviously won't make it to the production version.

The Proton Savvy replacement is slated to go on sale before the end of the year and could be unveiled as early as next month at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show.

Audi Q7 S 2014

Audi has introduced the new S line Style Edition and the S line Sport Edition of the Audi Q7 S line sold in United Kingdom.

The S line Style Edition is available with the 3.0-litre V6 TDI 245PS and 4.2-litre V8 TDI 340PS engines. It rides on the 21-inch five-arm rotor design matt titanium-finish wheels. The model gets an upgraded offroad styling package which includes stainless steel underbody protectors and extended wheel arches flowing into special bumpers with modified lower painted in body color.

The S line Sport Edition is available with the same engines and a 500PS Q7 V12 TDI engine. It gets a titanium finish for the 21-inch five-segment-spoke wheels, and a sport styling package including body-coloured wheelarch extensions, enlarged front air intakes with high gloss slats, lower bumper spoilers, stainless steel underbody protection and dual oval exhaust tailpipes integrated into the rear bumper.

Both editions are based on the S line Plus specification which includes features such as privacy glass, xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lamps, Verano leather upholstery, stainless steel side running boards, powered tailgate, HDD satellite navigation, the Audi parking system, Audi Music Interface and Audi connect.

The new S line Edition models are available now priced from 52,975 OTR to 64,100 OTR.

Well, BMW 4 series Grand Coupe is slightly expensive than the 3 Series Sedan. While the 4-Series GC shares the interior and overall mechanics with the 3-series sedan, the 4-series Gran Coupe is longer, wider and shorter!

The 2015 BMW 4-Series Gran Coupe will come with two engine choices: 2.0L 240hp TwinPower turbo 4 cylinder engin for BMW 428i and 3.0L 300hp TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder engine for BMW 435i.

The 4-Door BMW 4-Series Gran Coupe will be available in the US in early summer of 2014. The BMW 428i Gran Coupe will dig your pocket by $41,225, the BMW 428i xDrive Gran Coupe will cost $43,255 while the top-of-the-line 435i Gran Coupe will cost $46,725. All prices include $925 destination & handling charges.

Dodge Ram 1500 Black Express 2013

Dodge has introduced the 2013 Ram 1500 Black Express, a new special edition for the 1500 pickup truck which is distinguished by its all-black exterior. Described as the "baddest-looking factory-built truck on the market", the Black Express is a combination of style, performance, capability and value.

The all-black exterior can be justified by its black 20-inch alloy wheels, black front bumper, black front fascia with fog lamps, black grille, black rear bumper and black Ram's head badges on the grille and tailgate. All body-side badging has been removed. It also comes with premium bi-functional halogen projector headlamps with black bezels.

The 2013 Ram Black Express is available in two- and four-wheel-drive models in regular cab, quad cab or crew cab body styles. It is powered by the 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine with Fuel Saver Technology delivering 395bhp (294 kW) and 410 lb-ft (555 Nm) of torque.

The Ram Black Express will arrive in dealers this month and has a starting price of $26,955, plus $1,095 destination charge.

Bentley Continental GT3 Race Car 2014

Bentley has unveiled the Continental GT3 race car, a racing machine, at the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed. The 2014 Bentely Continental GT3 race car is the production version of the GT3 Concept car unveiled at the 2012 Paris Auto Show.

The exterior of the car features a comprehensive aerodynamic package which includes a carbon fibre rear wing and a carbon fibre splitter. A double wishbone suspension configuration front and rear, fitted with four-way adjustable racing dampers, replaces the standard road-car air springs. . Revisions have been made to the bonnet, bumpers, fenders and sills.

Despite the race-specification, the GT3 remains a hand-crafted Bentley, with the steering wheel, door pulls and seat all hand-trimmed and stitched by Bentley craftspeople at Crew.

The race car model is powered by Bentley's powerful but efficient 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine delivering 600 bhp. The V8 provides the GT3 race car with highly competitive power in a compact and lightweight package that's perfect for racing. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a carbon fibre propshaft to an Xtrac six-speed sequential gearbox.

BMW has announced the Concept Active Tourer Outdoor which will make its debut at the OutDoor Friedrichshafen fair in Germany this weekend. It is similar in size and uses the same 1.5-liter three-cylinder plug-in hybrid powerplant as in the Concept Active Tourer which made its appearance at the Paris Motor Show.

The Concept Active Tourer Outdoor showcases how a compact vehicle can combine comfort and the use of space with the enjoyment of sports and leisure.

The BMW Concept Active Tourer Outdoor is designed as a plug-in hybrid (PHEV = Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) making use of the highly sophisticated 1.5-litre BMW TwinPower Turbo petrol unit which works in perfect tandem with a synchronous electric motor and and a lithium-ion high-performance battery. With a total system output of over 140 kW/190 hp, it has an average fuel consumption of only 2.5 liters / 100 km (94 mpg US or 113 mpg UK) and CO2 emissions of less than 60 g/km.

The BMW Concept Active Tourer Outdoor darts to 100 km/h (62 mph) from stationary in under eight seconds, going on to a top speed of around 200 km/h (125 mph). It can be driven solely on electric power for 20-30 km (12-19 miles).

The BMW Concept Active Tourer Outdoor comes with exclusive Gold Race Orange exterior paintwork and rides on 20-inch wheels partly painted in Gold Race Orange. It has a carrier system for two bicycles which is integrated into the interior to save space.

The interior comes with easy-care, hard-wearing interior materials, such as MoonWhite and MoonRock Grey leather which stand up well to contact with outdoor equipment.

BMW M5 Nighthawk 2013

BMW has introduced the High-performance limited edition BMW M5 Nighthawk in Japan.

The 2013 BMW M5 Nighthawk comes in Frozen Black Matt paint along with 20-inch M light-alloy wheels forged Matt black paint finish and dark chrome grille.

The interior is elegantly designed with full leather Merino interior (seat, door panels, center console side, the instrument panel, seat back), carbon fiber trim (door trim and instrument panel) and individually-numbed badge.

The model comes with a Competition Package which includes dedicated settings for suspension, M dynamic mode and steering. Other inclusions are sports exhaust system and a black chrome tail pipe.

The 2013 M5 Nighthawk is powered by a 4.4-liter V-8 cylinder M TwinPower Turbo engine that develops 575 HP (423 kW) and 680 Nm (501 lb-ft) of torque. It is connected to a seven-speed M DCT transmission. It is capable to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds.

Only 10 samples will be made available for order exclusively in August, with first deliveries scheduled for October this year with price starting at 18,200,000 ($181,800 / 121,740 / 141,470).

Mazda MX-5 Sport Graphite 2013

Mazda has released a new special edition of its MX-5 Roadster called MX-5 'Sport Graphite' Roadster and will be limited to a production of 500 units for UK with a price of 20,995 (OTR).

The 2013 Mazda MX-5 Sport Graphite will be available with two engine options, a 126 HP (92 kW) 1.8-liter or a beefier 160 HP (117 kW) 2.0-liter engine.

Exclusive exterior features eye-catching paint finishes that are unique to this model - Aquatic Blue Mica, Zeal Red Mica or Aluminium Silver Metallic - with a contrasting 'Meteor Grey' retractable hard top roof and 17-inch dark gunmetal alloy wheels.

All 'Sport Graphite' models come equipped as standard with black leather heated seats with unique grey stitching, 5.8-inch TomTom navigation system with integrated Bluetooth hands-free kit, glossy dark grey bars, limited edition badges and color-co-ordinated door mirrors. Skoda has unveiled the Skoda Rapid Spaceback 2014 ahead of its world premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2013. The Rapid Spaceback will be an expansion in the model range in the high-volume compact segment between the Skoda Fabia and Skoda Octavia.

The Skoda Rapid Spaceback has a long wheelbase, a huge panoramic glass roof with tinted glass, a black spoiler, a black diffuser, grille with chrome frame, a new logo on the rounded front end of the hood, the cloverleaf arrangement of the headlights and fog lights.

The interior of the new Rapid Spaceback impresses with sporty three-spoke steering wheels, stylish trim lines and fresh designs for the seat covers. The interior offers a lot of space. This generous space is complemented by numerous 'Simply Clever' solutions.

The Skoda Rapid Spaceback will be available with four petrol and two diesel engines. These advanced power plants put out between 55 and 90 kW, the 1.6 TDI/66 kW celebrating its premiere in the Rapid model series. Bigger yet lighter

Our spies have sent us a batch of photos with the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class Estate undergoing final testing ahead of an official reveal scheduled most likely for early March at the Geneva Motor Show.

Following the introduction of the 2014 C-Class (W205), Mercedes-Benz is putting the finishing touches on the more practical Estate version which will ride on the same MRA platform as the sedan. As a consequence, it will grow in size compared to its predecessor yet it will be lighter thanks to the new architecture.

As you would imagine, the only change in terms of design compared to the sedan will be seen at the back where the C-Class Estate will look a lot different than the outgoing model and will probably be capable to carry more cargo. As a reminder, the previous-gen C-Class Estate has a trunk capacity of 485 liters with the seats up and 1,500 liters if you fold the rear seats down.

Engine lineup will likely be taken from the sedan, along with the gearbox choices and the availability of a 4MATIC all-wheel drive system. For the moment there aren't any details about an AMG version of the wagon but we do know the C63 AMG sedan has already been confirmed for an early 2015 launch.

Grey clouds at Jerez as Red Bull ends first test

The grey drizzle matched the mood in the Red Bull garage on Friday morning, but Daniel Ricciardo was his ever upbeat self.

Asked if the troubled RB10 will be running on the last day of the opening test of 2014, he answered: "I hope so."

Actually, he did less than 10 laps before the reigning world champions, caught deep in an early-season crisis along with engine supplier Renault, called it a day.

"All focus now shifts to Bahrain," said the team.

"We have two weeks until the next test so time's on our side."

That is an optimistic view, after a nightmarish four-day tally of just 21 laps. Mercedes' Nico Rosberg did almost 100 before lunch on Friday alone, as the Brackley team got stuck into a race simulation.

Mercedes' four-day tally is 270 laps and counting, with Lewis Hamilton set to complete the running in the reliable W05.

Red Bull, in total and utter contrast, are struggling to get Adrian Newey's extreme packaging working at all with the higher cooling demands of the all-new turbo and ERS-powered Renault V6.

Quite simply, the car cannot keep the crucial 'power unit' cool enough. Burn marks were visible on the side of the Red Bull on Friday, followed by some hasty work by the mechanics to cut holes in the bodywork.

Compounding Red Bull's misery, other key rivals Ferrari and McLaren are also looking reliable, both teams racking up about 70 laps apiece by lunchtime.

 

Jeep entry-level model to receive Laredo nameplate - report

To be the first Jeep built outside U.S.

Two industry sources cited by Automotive News Europe have revealed Jeep's upcoming entry-level model will receive the "Laredo" moniker.

Up until now we referred to Jeep's new model as the "Jeepster" and "Junior" but it seems in the end the car will be sold with the "Laredo" nameplate and will be the company's first ever model to be produced outside United States. The vehicle will be assembled at Fiat's Melfi factory in Italy where its 500X cousin will also be manufactured.

The boxy-shaped Jeep Laredo will allegedly make its public debut next month at the 84^th edition of the Geneva Motor Show and is slated to go on sale in Europe this summer while United States will get it later this year. The same report mentions Fiat's 500X will be unveiled in October at the Paris Motor Show and will go on sale in Europe late this year and early 2015 for the U.S. market.

Jeep's Laredo will be approximately 4250mm (167 inches) long and will be available exclusively with a four-wheel drive layout. Power will come from a variety of gasoline and diesel engines and there will also be a trail-rated variant. The Fiat 500X will have roughly the same size and will be offered in a more affordable version with front-wheel drive.

It is believed Fiat will publish the first images of the 500X on July 4 when the company will celebrate the 57^th anniversary of the original 500 launch. This model will serve as a replacement for the unpopular Sedici built in Hungary by Suzuki.

To keep the big rounded headlights

Our spies have managed to snap a few photos of the upcoming Nissan Juke facelift which will retain most of the rather controversial design.

The refreshed Juke will continue with the love/hate design as the alien-shaped front will sport the similar oversized rounded headlights but there will be some tweaks in the front grille and bumper. The side profile doesn't seem to bring any changes while at the back there's a new bumper and reworked taillights.

The alloy wheel design will also undergo a minor surgery while the interior cabin will probably be left untouched. Under the hood the facelift Juke will likely get the 2014 Qashqai's 1.2-liter DIG-T engine rated at 115 HP (85 kW) and 140 lb-ft (190 Nm) which will replace the naturally-aspirated 1.6-liter motor.

It is believed Nissan will showcase the facelifted Juke in October at the 2014 Paris Motor Show.

Mercedes-Benz C-Class AMG Sport 2015

Mercedes-Benz UK has announced plans to offer a new C-Class AMG Sport Edition in the United Kingdom.

The new AMG Sport Edition replaces the AMG Sport and AMG Sport Plus model lines and now applicable to all Saloon, Estate and Coup variants.

On the exterior the model is equipped with the AMG body kit, AMG alloy wheels and 15 mm lower sports suspension. It also gets AMG boot lid spoiler, dark-tinted headlamps and high-gloss black grille.

On the interior the new trim line benefits from AMG Sport Plus seats upholstered in black Artico and Dinamica with blue/grey contrast stitching and split folding rear seats. In addition to the dark brushed aluminium trim, the gear shift gaiter also now has grey contrast stitching.

In addition, there are two optional packages. The first is the Premium Package, which includes COMAND Online with Media Interface, reversing camera, heated front seats, Lighting Package and DAB digital radio. The Premium Plus Package features the same content as the Premium pack, with the added benefit of a panoramic glass sunroof.

Audi Q3 2015

The new 2015 Audi Q3 will arrive in the U.S. in the Fall of 2014 and will join the already successful lineup of Audi SUVs that includes the Q5 and Q7. It will make its U.S. debut at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit on January 13th. The Q3 is a premium, compact SUV that pairs coupe-like looks with the utility of a SUV. Its quality engineering and advanced features offer ideal performance and functionality, but also advanced technology and driving dynamics.
