Ford Focus facelift officially revealed with new EcoBoost and diesel engines [videos]

Available with 180 HP 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine

Following last weekend's leak, Ford has officially revealed the facelifted Focus range which will make its first appearance in public next week in Geneva.

Ford has applied a major facelift on the best-seller Focus which looks far more refined and evolved than the outgoing version. The Blue Oval company has mounted redesigned bumpers, restyled headlights and taillights, along with four completely new body panels and the Aston Martin-like front grille which suits the model better than the one on the smaller Fiesta.

The changes go skin deep as the refreshed Focus benefits from upgraded front dampers which have two additional steps in damper valving. Also new are the stiffer front and rear bushes which will provide the vehicle with an improved stability. In addition, Ford's engineers have updated the electric power steering and reprogrammed the ESC system.

In terms of motorization, the facelifted Focus will be sold with a new 1.5-liter EcoBoost gasoline turbocharged engine offered with 150 HP (110 kW) and 180 HP (132 kW). There's also a new 1.5-liter TDCi turbodiesel available with 95 HP (70 kW) and 120 HP (88 KW).

Other engines offered include the familiar 1.0-liter EcoBoost with 100 HP (74 kW) and 125 HP (92 kW), along with a 1.6-liter TI-VCT gasoline with 85 HP (63 kW), 105 HP (77 kW) and 125 HP (92 kW). Customers will also have the possibility of configuring the Focus with a 95 HP / 115 HP 1.6-liter TDCi and a 150 HP 2.0-liter TDCi, along with a 145 HP (107 kW) electric variant.

Depending on the engine choices, the facelifted Ford Focus will be available with five- and six-speed manual gearboxes, as well as a six-speed automatic and a six-speed PowerShift automatic. The U.S.-spec model will be offered for the first time with the 3-cylinder, 1.0-liter EcoBoost linked exclusively to a six-speed manual.

Step inside the cabin and you will immediately notice significantly less buttons as Ford has decided to go with a more simple and ergonomic layout and also installed the SYNC 2 connectivity system with an eight-inch touchscreen color display. The three-spoke steering wheel is also new and adopts a sportier appearance, while the denser carpets, better engine insulation and thicker side window glass should offer a quieter ride.

The revitalized Ford Focus lineup will be shown starting next week at the 84^th Geneva Motor Show.
