Engines will be offered in March

Fiat has announced plans to offer two new engines in the 500L.

First up, the 0.9-liter TwinAir Turbo produces 105 HP (74 kW) and 145 Nm (107 lb-ft) of torque. It enables the model to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 12.3 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 180 km/h (112 mph). While the model isn't terribly fast, it's relatively frugal as it averages 4.8 L/100km (49 mpg US / 58.8 mpg UK) with CO2 emissions of 112 g/km.

Likewise, the 1.6-liter MultiJet II turbo diesel develops 105 HP (74 kW) and 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) of torque. The extra grunt allows the model to run from 0-100 km/h in 11.3 seconds and hit a top speed of 181 km/h (112 mph). In terms of efficiency, owners can expect to average 4.5 L/100km (52.2 mpg US / 62.7 mpg UK) with CO2 emissions of 117 g/km.

The engines will be offered in the 500L starting in March.
